I went to Disneyworld on the 25th anniversary. They had decorated the castle like a giant birthday cake. I would love to that again, just for memories sake.

But think how they could have improved the birthday cake castle overlay in the past 15 years? I couldn't see them doing it for the 40th, but what if they did a white and gold birthday cake castle overlay for the 50th?

I vaguely remember my trip, but I do remember that birthday cake castle! To think that was 15 years ago! I think I was around 9 or 10 at the time.
.. now arriving at Space Mountain, Tomorrowland's gateway to the galaxy..

It could look nice, but I didn't mind the first version that much - it was different, but I kind of liked it for the occasion. However, I think they'll be more original than that.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

I'm not expecting anything for the 40th (and so far - other than merchandising - it looks to be true), but for the 50th I hope they do something (no guarantees on originality for it)...

This morning in the parks blog they showed some more of the merchandise for the 40th. The stuff looks really amazing and I love how they tried to get in touch with some of the retro symbols and insignias that we all came to love.

I kind of liked the pink castle cake too ~ but I was glad it was just temporary. I actually have a very nice photo of the castle cake with the statue of Walt and Mickey in front of it that I blew up to an 8 x 10 which I have on my wall next to the piano...
I would think if they choose to do an overlay, technology has gotten to the point that they might just do it with projections?!

For the 50th, I expect them to do something grand like they did with the cake overlay for the 25th, something more than just projections...but not for the 40th (and I don't even expect projections for celebrations for it)...

I actually wanted to replicate it for my 25th birthday cake. I thought that would be incredibly clever. But my birthday is exactly two weeks before Christmas and I was completely swamped with a puppet show my class was putting on at school and ended up just buying a Dairy Queen cake. Maybe I should just make it before my next birthday - they did have the castle like that all year, after all!

For the 50th, I've kind of imagined something similar to what they did for ... I think it was the Year of a Million Dreams - when they put the golden Disney characters and decorations on it. Again, obviously they most likely won't replicate something they've already done, but I'm expecting we'll see something very classic with an emphasis on gold.

You have a point ~ you could make that fancy cake anytime over the next 18 months and it would still fit in the allowable time parameters that Disney seems to hold for birthdays/anniversaries/etc. ;)

 That is true. Maybe I'll do it for my half birthday so it won't be completely random though.

Or...you could make it for your unbirthday ~ you have a lot of those!!
I actually bought a card today that said "happy unbirthday on it. I'll have to scan it and show it off in the submall!

I should have thought of that! Or I could just stay the same age next year - that's always a possibility. I can't wait to see the card.

Yup, them's are fightin' words.

Disney, please, please, please don't listen to them. Not another Pepto Bismal cake!
