No it snowed in Miami and Ft Myers. I lived in Ft Myers at the time. The snow in Miami was the farthest south ever recorded in North America.

We felt that snow on January of '77. it was late January/early february, but in reality lasted alot longer than that (at least, the after effects and residuals). It's known around here as The Blizzard of '77 or to many of the locals around at the time, "The Blizzard". That's one reason we don't like snow around here...

I definitely grew up in Southern California, so whenever I wanted to see snow, I had to drive to the mountains for it. Then I went to school in Michigan and got to see it for 5 months out of the year. At first I was stoked about seeing snow fall, but then like everyone told me, its magic wore off. LOL It sucks to have to scrap snow and ice off your car at 6am in negative temperatures. Plus it sucks not being able to play some of your favorite sports during the winter. I missed being able to play gold in December while wearing shorts! So I was happy when my new job brought me down to Atlanta, GA and too a much warmer climate. Though last winter when I moved down here to Atlanta, snow was not going to give up so easily and it decided to try and follow me to Atlanta. It snowed for a little bit, only yielding a light dusting but it was enough to pretty much shut down the city, as none down here had any idea how to drive in snow besides me, it was crazy!

for a little over a year between 2001 and 2002, I lived in Brunswick, GA which is right on the coast between Savannah and Jacksonville. I was told that in the late 80's that it snowed about the same amount and it shut the area down. as they do not get snow regularly, no one knows how to handle it. They are not equipped to work with it (no plows or salt trucks). people don't know how to drive in it so it acts more like ice. really shocks them to get get that much. we wouldn't even call that a dusting here...

Well it didn't really completely shut the city down, but the airport suffered MAJOR delays as they had to do de-icing procedures and the airport knows how to do it in theory but not in reality. I heard from co-workers that they sat in line to take off for 2 hours thanks to the slow de-icing and bad weather.

I live in Chattanooga, which you would think is far enough north to be able to deal with snow. No it's not, If we get an inch or more they close most of the businesses. All it has to do is snow a trace in the mountains and they'll close the schools in the valleys. My boys have had SNOW days when it was sunny and in the 40's.

My parents live in Johnson City, TN and have the same issue. Snow in the mountains closes schools in the valley. I am not looking forward to the drive up this Christmas. They are already expecting snow this week (which is really early I think), so I can just imagine what it will be like in December and I have never driven in snow. I can't wait to get up on those mountain roads with snow, fun fun.

P.S. if you never hear from me after Christmas, it's because I lost control of my car in the snow and drove off a mountain.

Never fear! Yes that is real early for snow, but we really don't get much. In the last five years we've only gotten one snow storm over two inches. If you're coming up in December, be ready for cold and damp. Remember the saying, "It's getting warm enough to rain".

I thought I would die last Christmas, and the lows were in the low 40's and high 30's. That isn't any colder than we are that time of year, but for some reason it is so much worse in the mountains. I think it has to do with there not being a twenty degree gap between the high and the low. And the worst thing is I don't have "winter" clothes, I have jackets and everything, but they don't do squat in mountain winters. In fact, to give all of you northerners a laugh, I turned on the heat this morning in my house, it was 48 outside.

there's a great list, fairly funny but absolutely true. many cities have them, "You know you're from ___ when:". well there's one for Buffalo that has a couple of great lines:

-your kid's halloween costume can fit over a snowsuit.
-driving is better in the winter, because the potholes are filled in.
-you know what "wind chill factor" and "lake effect snow" mean.
-you've gotten frostbite and sunburn in the same weekend.
- you've driven during a state of emergency or driving ban
- you've seen lightning and snow in the same storm

They are calling for 1-3 inches of snow tonight into tomorrow north of Pittsburgh! I sure hope they are wrong. Now on Friday they are saying it is going to be 60 for Halloween! I can take that over snow and trick or treating!

It was supposed to snow this morning, but we got rain instead. :)

 I like that one. We always say "if you don't like the weather, just wait an hour".

I know we can get bad storms here, but you guys up in NY get them non-stop  .

So I go to college in New Brunswick and the forecast called for rain with maybe a few flurries. I get out of my class at 11:10 and find blizzard like conditions!!! Needless to say it was first time driving home in the snow. Tense, but fun!

I was finally enjoying the early spring like weather with 65 degrees on Friday. Tonight into tomorrow it is going to be snow 8-14 inches. YIKES!
