I'm not sure. They wouldn't say anything about it other than it's shut down. I'll look into it, though.

Billbords are up all over Florida and with the huge blitz in NYC this past week it seems odd they wouldn't soft open again.

Maybe they're clearing everyone out to finish up the decor? It was a mess when I was there...

Or it might just be Disney's "official" word on it, and they won't actually know the days it'll be open. I'll look into it some more and let you know what I find out. :)

Right now Everest is in a "soft open" state. That means they are still working out some of the kinks. We were at WDW last week. It was closed on Monday and Tuesday, but open on Wednesday and that's when we got to go on it. I thought it was great. The best theme of any coaster with literally a Yeti museum in the que line. I think I heard it was suppose to open for real in April. I think it's soon to be the hottest attraction in WDW, but it will certainly turn out to be THE reason to go to the AK.

I clarified with my wife and she said that the Disney rep stated specifically, "There will be NO MORE SOFT OPENINGS until the ride opens in April." Which sucks, because I was really looking forward to going tomorrow. :(

For me, it still won't be enough to pull me into AK, unlike Tower of Terror's draw until MGM before they got Rockin' Roller Coaster and some of the good kid's shows. I'm hoping that it was just beginner's rush that caused me to shrug at the end of it, and maybe I'll like it even more the second time around.

As an aside, I just found out that there's an animatronic show in USA's World Showcase... Egads. I've lived down here for almost a decade an never went in there. I'd scream every time I saw an American going in, demanding that they achieve some level of culture by eating something other than burgers and steaks. Now I feel bad. :|

Same here! Or Morocco with the belly dancers. But not Mexico. Never ever Mexico. Their food reminds me of overpriced Taco Bell. :)

I just got back from Disney and I rode expedition Everest for the first time! Speaking of first times this is my first reply on this website or this forum . Anyway getting back to expedition Everest I got to the animal kingdom early in the morning and the first thing I did was get a fast pass then I went on the 10 minute wait line (which was great because it was so early and wasn’t that crowed ) so you go through this museum featuring all of these artifacts about the yeti. I thought that was very cool and interesting. Ok so then you get on this train and you start off going pretty fast up the mountain and in to this temple with a picture (mural) of the yeti. So then you end up going to the top of the mountain and it is very nice and misty and you get a cold feeling. You go through a dark tunnel and then you see that the track is broken a torn apart. You then see a plastic bird that disappears behind the mountain and then you here a yeti growl and the bird squeak for one last time. Then you go backwards very fast in a dark tunnel and you see the shadow of the yeti ripping the tracks open. You then screech forwarded very fast down the same tunnel you came through and go down a huge drop that turns in to a spiral and eventually you go back in to the mountain where you see the yeti face to face ! You just barley get by him and then you go back out of the mountain and the rides ends!

Welcome rkobom123!! What day did you go on EE? We went on Feb 15 and just a couple days later there have been reports that they have halted the soft open state until the official opening. So if you went after Feb 18 there may be a chance they are still doing the soft open.

its touch and go with them. they where painting some of the que and doing some other ride adjustments. I was talking with an employee from the ride and they say "soft openings are still being planned until the offical opening" so hope everyone gets to enjoy the ride before it become over crowded

You couldn't get me on that ride even if you cut my hands off.

I worked on the commercial for Everest, the day we shot my wife and I had to spend the whole day riding it.. Boo hoo.. :) Anyway I've been to Animal Kindom at least 4 - 6 times this month and I've rarely seen EE closed. They usually close down to work on some effects. I know they changed some of the Yeti's effects and they are still working on the cloud effects at the top.

Make sure to get a fast pass though, wait times are typically 70 - 100 minutes unless you do single rider.
