Re: The return of Captain EO
I'm guessing they might make one up using their IPs without tagging a specific franchise for the theme/story (like that philharmagic). I still say gut it and put something else in. After about a month EO went back to the usual near empty waiting areas (just like with all the 3D movies and other automated shows at DLR).
Re: The return of Captain EO
They should alternate between Captain EO and Magic Journeys!

Getting back to the drug addict slant.... Disney is using live ones on RNR........
I thought that EO was supposed to be a "limited engagement"?
Apparently Disney's idea of "limited engagement" is similar to Fox News and CNN's idea of "breaking news".
A week after OBL was eliminated both still had it running on their 'breaking news" banner.

Maybe....
...they could learn from the new Star Tours 2.0. Make for the Eo replacement have interchangeable 3D parts, so the random selection would create multiple variations of films and could make people want to come back to the 3D film more often?

Re: The return of Captain EO
They might be contemplating that since show attractions usually seem to have little pull beyond "We have AC".

Possibly Tron?!mindflipper wrote:I remember for the millenium they billed the Tapestry of Nations as a "limited engagement" for the millenium celebration only, and it lasted there for years. Depends on how many years it takes to work up a new movie. I wonder which movie franchise they will use to make the new film?Wizzard419 wrote:When they were doing interviews with the press at DLR, they were speaking with a local news monkey and they noted it was a limited engagment that was to run while they worked on the new movie. I will try and find the source/clip for it over the weekend.elizabethswann wrote:I don't think they've really said if they plan on putting anything at DLR but I'll keep an eye out.

Beyond video-gamers does TRON have that much appeal? Maybe something a bit broader appeal...

Re: The return of Captain EO
Hopefully! I was just thinking about the fact that they managed to have a whole section of California Adventure devoted to Tronmindflipper wrote:Beyond video-gamers does TRON have that much appeal? Maybe something a bit broader appeal...

Re: The return of Captain EO
They've been trying to mainstream it, hence the $800 stripper heels, but it's still a cult franchise. They were/are talking about concepts for a DLR attraction based around it, but I wouldn't hold out much for that.

...if they did, somehow I think it would be some kind of video game based attraction.Wizzard419 wrote:They've been trying to mainstream it, hence the $800 stripper heels, but it's still a cult franchise. Re: The return of Captain EO
Yeah, they really don't have a ton of space to work with for any E-ticket attractions. The only remnants of rocket rods that aren't being utilized are (most of) the track and the loading area. Buzz took over almost the entire queue (the underground part is where they add/remove cars. Even though it wasn't a factor in the closing, the cars were very loud and when they would run through star tours they made quite a lot of noise.
Re: The return of Captain EO
Isn't EO now in WDW because Kodak no longer is sponsoring the Imagination pavilion? Or is that just a rumour I heard?
Re: The return of Captain EO
I think it had about 99.9% to do with MJ's death.momeja wrote:Isn't EO now in WDW because Kodak no longer is sponsoring the Imagination pavilion? Or is that just a rumour I heard?
Re: The return of Captain EO
Finally got to see the return of Captain EO at Epcot this past Sat. (10/8). It was fun in a nostalgic way, but it was pretty deserted in the theater. Methinks the nostalgia crowds have come and gone. Out with the old and in with the new!
Re: The return of Captain EO
Perhaps his death provided good timing for Disney to make the change. I miss HISTA, though.Soarin08 wrote:I think it had about 99.9% to do with MJ's death.momeja wrote:Isn't EO now in WDW because Kodak no longer is sponsoring the Imagination pavilion? Or is that just a rumour I heard?
