I agree the script is the problem, not the voice saying it.leblanan wrote:I love Jeremy irons. I have great respect for Walter Cronkite's, but Jeremy irons did such a great job. I miss it. Judy Dench is ok. To be honest, I think she does well, but it's a terrible script

Re: Spaceship Earth Narrator...
That's a tough one...I like both Dench and Cronkite, but I don't remember Irons as a person I'll have to listen to some of my old recordings and pay attention to the voice. I guess I will choose Judy Dench...I'm a big fan of hers. I love BBC television.
Re: Spaceship Earth Narrator...
I just put both the Cronkite & Irons versions on my phone so I can try listening to retro soundtracks the next time I go.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Re: Spaceship Earth Narrator...
I like Dame Judy as an actress, but something about her voice on the ride, her inflection, just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. Still I love the ride so much, I always go at least once when I go every February, usually a couple of times.
sorry, but it will ALWAYS be Jeremy Irons to me.

Too bad they can't allow you to choose your narrator at the beginning of the attraction...you know, with the touch screen and all.

Re: Spaceship Earth Narrator...
Ack, tough one! But I went with Jeremy Irons. I love that narration... could listen to him talk all day!
Re: Spaceship Earth Narrator...
Jeremy Irons is definitely the best in my opinion. I love the script, and his voice is just perfect for the ride. I look forward to the audio popping into the queue, and when I need my fix, I have the audio on my PC. The Judi Dench version just does not seem like it is as educational as the Jeremy Irons version. I am not all about education, but in a ride like this, I think it is necessary. Also, I think Spaceship Earth is just an attraction that needs / is better with a male voice. I don't mean to start any comments off of that statement, but to me, I feel a male's voice better suits the ride and the ambiance it portrays. I was temperately excited to hear that they were going to put SE through a refurb, but when I heard they were replacing the script AND the narrator, I was very upset!

Judi Dench does fine as the narrator, she just had a horribly watered down script she had to readlonepalm wrote:Jeremy Irons is definitely the best in my opinion. Re: Spaceship Earth Narrator...
I definitely agree that the script is terrible as compared to Jeremy Irons' script, and I agree that she does well, but I simply prefer a male's voice, and I thought Jeremy Irons' voice was a perfect fit, and the script was much better too! Nothing personal to Judi Dench! I think she did great for what she had! I just personally feel that a male's voice is a better fit for the attraction!Amy wrote:Judi Dench does fine as the narrator, she just had a horribly watered down script she had to readlonepalm wrote:Jeremy Irons is definitely the best in my opinion. Re: Spaceship Earth Narrator...
But wait...isn't that sexist that men are better as narrators than women? I think I would take Judi Dench as a narrator over Gilbert Gottfried...
