Are the lines in mid August as bad as July? We used to wait for hours to ride stuff. Then we started going the last week of August. Now my little one is going to school so that is out.
I'm not sure, we never went in August due to sports starting and school starting. This July there was always a long wait for everything, unless you used the fastpass system. 8) Have fun planning your trip!

I'm all over the fast pass.

I guess when you have kids you have to sacrifice and wait in the lines. :o

Even though we do have to go during the busy summer months, as far as sacrificing and having to wait it lines, it's quite the opposite, but my kids are older (13 and 17). We never wait in line if it's more than 15 minutes with the exception of one time this summer. We went with friends and their kids and waited standby for 30 minutes {what the sign read} for the TOT and ended up waiting for 1.5 hours - NEVER AGAIN! Anyway - we always get to the parks early, ride what we really want to before it gets too crowded and get a fastpass for the rest. :D

I watch the fireworks then head spend as much time shopping on Main Steet as possible until they kick me out of the park.

Have you ever stayed so late that they actually asked you to leave? We stayed one night for Extra Magic Hours for Epcot and you wouldn't believe the number of people still milling around World Showcase that hadn't gotten wristbands and weren't ready to leave yet, and this was 40 minutes after park closing!

I would like to go in September when they have the free meal deal going on, but it's just not in the cards. Kindegarten starting and all. My wife is frowning on it. :)

When I used to go with my folks we'd wait for hours for stuff. My wife and I got it figured out though. Get there early do what we really want to do. Stay until about 2 head back and nap (The little one - I'm at the pool) and head back to the park around 5 or 6. It was a pretty nice system last time we went.

You and your wife got it figured out the right way! It prevents alot of afternoon temper tantrums - - - and the kids might get cranky too!

So true, so true. I can go all day everyday, but the Mrs has to have her cat nap or she gets all Ursula on me.

The only park we're ever at at closing is the MK. If we're staying at the Contemp, we just leave and walk back there. If not, we just hang out in the park and wait. It's much nicer than standing in line at the monorail, boat, or bus station!

We've stayed in the Value Resorts for the most part. A couple times we stayed at a Moderate Resort. Early on we stayed off property because all they had were the more expensive resorts.

Whenever we leave the parks at night after the shows, we usually take our time of it unless we're close to the area where the boats or buses are loading up. If we're close by then we haul it to avoid the masses behind us. :) If we're away from them, like we were after Fantasmic! this past time we visited, we take our time and just sort of enjoy the park at night, walk through a few shops .. no rush at all.

One time, my family and I were eating dinner at Cinderella's Royal table. Meanwhile the park was closing. I don't know how long after closing we were there, but when we fianlly left, we were the only ones on Main Street (not even any CMs) we took our time and took lots of pictures in front of shops and stuff

I just ride the rides until they kick me out, then walk gingerly away from the exit until a CM kind of forces me to go the other way. I loved the Halloween nights because you could stay until well after midnight. In DL I do that all the time.

No real plan of action, depends on which park we are in. Epcot: walk around WS after Illuminations; MK: hang back as much as possible (it's my life ambition to be the last person out); AK: Never actually been there for closing. MGM (sorry can't get used to new name yet) we just play it by ear. Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach I almost have to be escorted out I love them!
