Even when my parents and I were eating at Catal at Downtown Disney, which has a $35/plate price fix menu, my father was still shooting eye-daggers at the couple across the way who had brought their two sugar-soaked sprogs to dine at a "wine bar" restaurant. What's sad about this is that everything about V&A screams "adults only" establishment (the price, the menu, the lack of children's menu, the wine pairings, the dress code, etc.), and yet some parents are so oblivious they still think it acceptable to tote junior along, much to the consternation of the staff and other diners.
i can't agree more. I atmosphere, food, price all scream ADULT, not CHILDREN. Does little Timmy really enjoy foie gras or wine pairings or the cello and violin? No way, he wants to go back to the park.....

my parents took us to victoria and albert's when we were kids. i was about 4 or 5 and my sister was about 7 or 8. we were very well behaved kids, and were used to dining out so my parents never had to worry about us making a scene.

i haven't been there since! i do remember that we loved a vanilla sauce that came with dessert, though. we couldn't get enough of it! years later, my hubby and i made the sauce from a disney cookbook;)

i don't blame disney for this rule, though. my hubby and i have been seated next to some nightmares at some nice restaurants (not as nice as v&a's, but still nice.

It would seem like common sense not to bring a young child to V&A. That's a long time to sit still, and many children have trouble sitting still at McDonald's. To expect them to be angels at a much longer meal is unrealistic. But then again, there are many adults that simply lack common sense. On our honeymoon, we went to Palio for dinner. It was very romantic and the place was rather quiet....until a couple with a toddler in tow sat down near us. We didn't mind junior's presence or even his delighted giggle. It was when the parents encouraged junior to start pounding his silverware on the table that our blood began to boil. It was very loud and distracting. They failed to understand why we didn't think it was adorable. We just hustled through the rest of our meal and left. What a waste.

Disney Dining Plan!

I do wonder why they didn't make the restaurant at downtown Disney instead? its adult themed (no strip club yet sorry Dr. Ravenscroft)

This was a great decision by Disney. When you are paying that much for an experience, you don't want it ruined by scream/crying kids. There are PLENTY of other places for children. Having a few restaurants like this wouldn't hurt. They should add a couple of more to this list.

Not that I agree with this next statement, but this is Disney World...it is a place for kids.

Disneyworld is for kids of all ages, if Walt was here he would remind you of that again.
