I agree with much of what's been said. Although I have not seen Stitch, I didn't like Alien Encounter at all, so if they replaced a turd with a turd, that's basically OK with me. Not ideal, obviously, but you take what you can get with Disney these days. At least they didn't destroy Space Mountain for Stitch.

Anyway, I just wanted to throw in the defiling of the Tiki Room with that insufferable new show. Jiminy Christmas, is that horrible!

That's right!! Tiki Room Under New Management is so bad. That has got to be the most painful attraction ever. If Disneyland ever did that, I'd just cry.

Actually, at the time, I did love it, but I'm not going to make the argument that it would be acceptable Disney entertainment in the 21st century.

Yeah tiki room is pretty bad. If they had atempted to update it in a less annoying manner it may not have been as bad. I like a lot of the way the new music is portrayed in the tiki room (especially when the tikis sing "in the still of the night") However, too many of the classic songs have been removed with miniscule cameos in the finale. I dont understand why it had to be "under new management". They could have thrown in a few new songs or updated exsisting songs without giving the show an annoying plot with Iago.

Not sure if I'm contradicting itself

I had forgotten about the changes at the Tiki Room. I wasn't too annoyed by the new version, but realized how it would suffer from repeat viewings, something that wasn't a problem with the original. I was particularly puzzled by the idea of having the agents for Iago and Zazu (the preshow at the waterfall). I thought to myself, "I'm no marketing major, but how is your normal eight year old going to understand agencies and contracts? Furthermore, why would your normal eight year old care?" Now, I believe you can have humor that scores for kids while being entertaining for the parents as well; it's what Disney has done so well so often. Just thought the idea of New Management and agents and "being hip" was awfully practical in a place that's supposed to be magical.

Dino. Land. USA.

Closely followed by Kali River Rapids. When you see how great Grizzly River Run is there's no excuse for Kali to suck so bad.

It's a shame because DAK is becoming a great park with an awesome grand plan, but the scars of Chester and Hester's Dinorama and the weak, horrible ride that is Kali aren't things that can be just erased and fixed.

To give some attention to other blunders, I'll devide this up among properties:

MK
What's there: The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management
What's not there: Tropical Serenade

EPCOT
What's there: That stupid wand.
What's not there: The original Journey into Imagination

MGM
What's there: That stupid hat
What's not there: Enough to keep me interested on multiple visits thanks to a poorly planned park.

DAK
What's there: Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama
What's not there: The Beastly Kingdom

PI
What's there: Inane, uninteresting, copy cat dance clubs with no family, or non-teenage for that matter, appeal whatsoever.
What's not there: The former set of interesting, niche night clubs and Disney fun. And the abolitionment of the nightly New Years countdown.

The Epcot wand is ok, I prefer it not to be there, but the MGM Hat took away from the chinese theater.

Great post! ROTFLOL!

After living in the S. Pacific, I loved the tiki room. Kitschy or not, I thought it was delightful. However, everytime I dragged my group in to watch it with me, everyone fell asleep (until the thunder part).
No, no... He's got a point.

Great Break down MansionButler  I have to agree with a lot of what you are saying. Especially MGM. I think it's a great idea, but once you've gone you don't have to go again for months. Tsk tsk...

Imagination for me. I always loved that ride and could never understand why they wanted to remove Figment and Dreamfinder. The new ride just isn't the same.

I couldn't agee more! Why change such a good ride. They ruined it with the remake!

Sitch is takin a beating...lol but sadly I couldn't agree more.

I rode it again when I was just down there and forgot how bad it was. It's such a sad remake of the original, and a lame attempt to add stich to the park. Its really bad, and borders on boring. How they could take a ride like AE which granted was not kid friendly, but a good ride, and replace it with something so lame is beyond me. AE was such a good physological ride, which is completely lost with the remake.

So here is my mistake run down by park...

Magic Kingdom
Stich..hands down...just sad
Tiki room gets an mention because its not as good as the original but not as lame as stitch.

Epcot
Imagination...story makes no sense. Love how they remade it without figment.. which sucked and just added back figment to apease the uproar and just made the story more confusing.

AK
Hester and Jester area...its sooo what Walt hated.. Primeval Whirl is fun..but the area themeing is horrible and cheap looking

MGM
Think the Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour is lame...and lacking.

I didn't think about The backlot tour. Good one. It's like a junkyard really. They hardly have anything worth looking at back there, and what they do looks like it's just been dumped back there cause no one wanted to deal with getting rid of it.

As a huge movie fan I find this section really disheartening, and almost offensive.
