We like to go in late September. Most kids are back in school (less crowds) and the deals are the best of the year (less $$$). However, here's the bad: 1) hurricane season might not only mess up being in Orlando, but also your travel to/from the city. 2) if you have school-age kids, you have to pull them out of school. 3) temperatures in september are still very hot (in the 90s)...it doesn't really start cooling off until october.
We used to think early October was good, but in 2003, there was some media event that packed the parks and there was an amazing deal everyone took advantage of (get 7 nights at a wdw resort for the cost of 4). It was the most crowded I've ever seen it (even compared to peak season!).

I like early January because the christmas decorations are still up so you get to enjoy all the prettiness of christmas without having to deal with the big crowds.
I know this is probably your first flight...and it's mine too...ha, ha

I Talk To Cast Members All The Time When I Go To Disneyland In Aneheim and they always say the least busyiest day of year is the day right before thanksgiving.just to let anyone know if they wanted to go then they said there is hardly any waits.
