Re: MyMagic+
Disney will soon be testing the MagicBands for park entry during EMH for the mornings. October 25, 27, and November 2 are the testing dates. Resort guests without a MagicBand will use their resort IDs.

Re: MyMagic+
I wanna know if Disney has started to install charging stations all over the parks. Now that they are really trying to push people using the My Disney Experience app -- people's phone batteries are going to be dying and it is going to be frustrating for people who are scheduling things via their phones and their phones will die before the end of their day.
Anyone know of anything or seen any charging stations around the parks?

Re: MyMagic+
There are charging stations at MK. The Tangled restrooms have USB ports and regular electrical outlets. The area in New Fantasyland where you were able to pick up Fastpasses for Dumbo and Barnstormer have some as well. I'm not sure about other locations. If your phone goes out and you need to make reservations, there are kiosks in each park where you can make or alter reservations.Belle1082 wrote:I wanna know if Disney has started to install charging stations all over the parks. As if phones weren't feculent enough, you can now charge them by the toilets...
I am surprised they don't have actual charging stations similar to the coat checks or lockers, since I can't imagine many people would be carrying their cables with them in the park.

Some of us have such poor battery life when not using wifi that we carry our charging cords with us in our purses... or whatever a man would use in that circumstance. Annoying as frack, with frack being a pronoun representing the most annoying thing you can conjure.Wizzard419 wrote:As if phones weren't feculent enough, you can now charge them by the toilets...

Even then, I can't imagine you would stay glued to a wall for several hours (or even 10 mins) to get enough juice to keep it running. Depending on the occupancy rate of the lockers at WDW, it might be worth their while to tear out a block of them and replace them with recharge safes.

Thank goodness! I was worried that there might not be anything of that nature. I have a portable battery that I will bring, but still good to bring an extra cord to charge or what have you. Glad to hear it, but hoping that I can find ways to save my battery throughout the day!

Might be worth investing in a solar charger. Clip it to the outside of your backpack somehow, and you'd be able to charge while walking around the parks.Belle1082 wrote:Thank goodness! I didn't even know those existed! I should look into it! The battery charger thing I have is pretty nifty though...you just charge it and then you have another smaller cord that you can plug in from your phone to the charger to charge your phone while you are on the go. Very handy for things like DW.cy1229 wrote:Might be worth investing in a solar charger. Re: MyMagic+
Yes... and the one I saw on Amazon was about $40, could be charged with a wall outlet, or could be solar charged, but it functions the same as your extra battery charger thingamabob. The solar feature takes a full 12 hours to fully charge the battery, though, so if you need to use it multiple times in a day, or about mid-afternoon, you'll have to plug it in to charge it up all the way, which kind of defeats the purpose IMHO. I did see one that would be faster, but it's pretty big and cost about $50.Belle1082 wrote:I didn't even know those existed! I should look into it! You could also look into a solar backpack, more panels, but it kind of depends on if this would be the only time you would use it.

I thought I saw somewhere that they did have the charging lockers...now I'll have to go look ~ excuse me for a second....Wizzard419 wrote:As if phones weren't feculent enough, you can now charge them by the toilets...

EDIT: Found it, guess they are at DL ~ I am surprised they haven't done the same in WDW. Perhaps they don't get much use at DL and they don't feel it would be worthwhile to install them?

Re: MyMagic+
I think the charger lockers they have at DL are not the same ones I am talking about. I think they are basically normal lockers with an outlet in them, the ones I am talking about are tiny lockers with compatible cables in each slot. Your device is secured for the charging. Considering that interactive and parks both really want you to use the app on device, providing that or the full on phone valet (similar to a coat check) service for free would be in their best interest. The valet trucks pop up at various music festivals and are free as they are a sponsored by major corporations.

Well, I'm just glad that they thought of this stuff ahead of time. They're Disney--of course they have thought of everything! It just worried me about cell phones dying, etc. I still don't understand why someone hasn't made a SUPER charger yet where your phone can be fully charged in 60 seconds or something like that.

Yes Wizz, I was thinking of the lockers with the chargers in them. I didn't know about the tinier ones.
Is that bottom picture in New York? Looks like the kids might have to check their phones before going into school?
I wonder if it is too difficult to charge an electronic device so quickly without frying it's little circuit boards Belle1082?
