Unfortunately, there's too many cheapskates in control of TDO to allow that to happen...NaCler wrote:Then you can be our inside voice to let them know we want the Haunted Mansion overlay at WDW... right??

Re: Fire Breaks Out in Enchanted Tiki Room
They aren't cheapskates if they are opting not to do it because they don't see it boosting attendance.
Re: Fire Breaks Out in Enchanted Tiki Room
Trust me when I say that TDO didn't want to do it. They had enough requests to bring back the original but they didn't want to pay the money for it. The fire forced their hand, otherwise the original Tiki Room would have been back years ago.Wizzard419 wrote:They aren't cheapskates if they are opting not to do it because they don't see it boosting attendance.

I was actually talking about HMH but it works for tiki too.
They could have a warehouse full of requests for it, useless online petitions, etc. but even when they do bring back the previous version of the show it won't dramatically impact numbers beyond the short term (MFer thinks not at all which is totally possible too) since it doesn't entice people to book a vacation there.

Re: Fire Breaks Out in Enchanted Tiki Room
I don't think they would even do it to boost attendance either. TDO's past attitude has been if attendance is solid, why rock the boat? They're happy with status quo as long as there's no drop in attendance. TDO probably could see that the Fantasyland Expansion would boost attendance, but still chose to pass on it because they could maintain status quo without spending any money; it was the Disney corporate heads that made the decision and over-rode TDO. I think TDO would only consider something like an overlay if they felt like they had to counter any drastic on-going drop in attendance; if a holiday overlay was to occur at WDW, it will probably take an act of the coporate heads to over-ride TDO again for it to happen.

I wonder if they have a "throwing a hotdog down a hallway" situation in orlando where the only work done, that has any meaningful boost in numbers, has to be something really big? At DLR we can have a new ride, or show ,or whatnot since the larger local guest population. But I wouldn't book a trip to WDW for Tiki or even HMH, and that's where their money comes from.

Re: Fire Breaks Out in Enchanted Tiki Room
Enough of the negativitiy please. I must say that I am quite proud to be apart of the reopening of Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room! All I've seen so far is the preshow area but I like all the touches they've done to the area, even just a paint job here and fixing lights there. Since I worked the UNM version for 4 months, there was just so many things wrong with the show (besides the show itself) and paint that looked horribile, that it's nice to see it look "brand new". I haven't seen the show itself yet (tomorrow!) but from what i've heard from my fellow CMs, it's amazing how good of a job they've done.

If they are bringing back the previous version then wouldn't you already know what the show is?
