Did anybody read the second article on this? The police chief from their home town said that this couple is involved in drugs in a big way. He went on to say that they have made up other stories of this type. Even the Orlando police are saying that their story just doesn't seem right.
It looks like they were trying to find drugs!!

Here's the link to the first story:

That makes me feel better about the kidnapping, but I'm still upset about the German couple and the officers being shot earlier.

Sounds like it was a big hoax:
Downtown Disney "abductees" drop case

Last week, we reported a late-breaking story about a young couple who claimed to have been abducted by three men from a parking lot as they walked from Downtown Disney Marketplace back to their hotel. On last week's MousePlanetWatch news podcast, we reported an update that Connecticut police stated that they did not believe that the account was 100 percent correct, based upon the fact that the man claming to be abducted was well-known to them to be a drug addict. Now the plot is thickening.

Both Jessica DellaCamera and Justin Stetzer were asked by the Orange County Sheriff's Office to assist in the preparation of composite sketches of their captors. They refused to cooperate. They were also asked to take part in a voice stress examination (kind of a lie-detector test). They refused to cooperate with that, as well. On Wednesday, the two 20-year-olds signed Declaration of Intent (DOI) forms, stating that - even if their abductors were captured - DellaCamera and Stetzer would not press charges against them.

This would certainly make it seem as if their original story is not exactly true. There are many other possible explanations for what may (or may not) have happened, but that will be left as an exercise for the reader.

Wow, I hope they are not that low of people to make up a story like that. But at the same time, I hope they didn't really get taken either.

well, this could be one of 2 scenerios then...

if they DID get abducted, they know who it was that did it, and are afraid of retaliation of some form if they identify who did it.

-OR-

it was just a hoax, just a way for these people to get their 15 seconds of fame. a kind of "Hey, Mom! Look at me! I'm on TV!" moment for them...

my guess, it's number 2

Even if it's not true it's still a good warning to everyone - you can't let your guard completely down, even at WDW. Sad but true. And my wife and I have walked from Downtown Disney back to the Hilton late at night ourselves. I'll probably do it again, but I will be more alert.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

I'd guess #2 too, but more in a 'hey we got robbed on Disney property - it must be their fault so we can sue them!' kind of way. Which is sad.

I have to agree you have to be alert though. Especially when walking off toward Goodings down that DTD hotels street. I've heard a few stories about muggings along there (though who knows how many of 'em are true...).

I can't understand why Disney didn't cotton on sooner either. It will be a shame it DDT does become ticket entry.

As with the above, my thoughts and prayers are with the couple.

it's easy to think about letting your guard down at disney. The cast member who took us on the keys to the kingdom tour pointed this out... Disney is the only place where you will ever find people to leave their expensive purses, cell phones, cameras/camcorders, and ipods in the stroller outside of a ride, while thy wait in line for an hour. Completely unattended. There is just a trust that park goers have. I will say I normally feel extremely safe at the Disney Resort. The only time I do feel unsafe is when there is a parade and during fireworks. So many people gathered in one place.... I guess if you are spending the $ to get into the park there should not be any reason to steal. Downtown Disney is free to enter by anyone so I would think it's more of an attraction to thiefs there.
