The books are about Christianity. C.S.Lewis made them as a parable for children to enjoy and help them understand Christianity. the use of the mythological figures entice everyone to them. but in the last battle you see Aslan calls them to a new land that is like Narnia...but better. this is a parallel to what happens in the book of Revelations. Whats ironic about C.S.Lewis is that he was an Atheist. it wasn't until J.R.R. Tolkien introduced him to the faith, that he then went on to become one of the leading writer/theologins in the 20th Century.(The Screw Tape letters are a great read!) JRR Tolkiens bibliography describes how it was C.S.Lewis's booming voice that was the inspiration for "Treebeard" and during the time Lewis was "pounding" out his books one right after the other, Tolkien wouldn't talk to him because he didn't want his books "Lord of the Rings" to have any similarities to his good friends.
