The Little Mermaid
Funny. Smartly written fast-moving story. Great villain. Plus the musical team of Menken and Ashman at their freshest and most witty.
No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.

Personally I enjoy the music more than the movie. I do like the movie, but their are a few songs I just love.

I remeber when i first got the Lion King on VHS before the movie there was a trailer for Pocohontas that was her and John Smith during the Colors of the Wind song. I just thought the animation looked like a backwards step. Her face looked so flat. I'm sure eventually I'll see it. I was very against seeing Titanic, but finally landed up seeing that last year.

It's hard to say....... I love so many Disney Movies.... Sooooooooooo I'll break my answer into categories
- *Live Action - Marry Poppins... STILL love this movie and the music... When Hubby and I were in London in '04.. .I kept singing the "feed the birds' song around St. Pauls Catherdral. And as a part time dance teacher... I've choreographed to a few of these songs too. (actually.... the 1st dance I EVER made up (I was 8 yrs old) was to Jolly Holiday!)
*Classic - Lion King, (although there is a bit of CG in it) It is a GREAT story with incredible music. Beauty and the beast, Aladdin and Mermaid are close too..
*CA- Finding Nemo.... Ellen MAKES this movie! So funny with so many great lines! JUST KEEP SWIMMING! (Although the Incredibles was a close 2nd)

Hunchback of Notre Dame. Such a hard hitting, smart, beautiful movie. The animation was just amazing. Always makes me cry at the end. I loved it when i was younger and now that i am older, i get the jokes i didnt when i was little and im more aware of the various themes throughout it... awesome.
Beauty and the beast & lion king tied for second.

Reading all your posts I have to agree with alot of you. And it also brought to mind Nemo I do really love this movie and find myself popping in the dvd about as often as Mary Poppins. I do enjoy it. And do you any of you remember Hot Lead and Cold Feet ? Another great classic movie!

Yes! That starred the guy who plays the professor in Pete's Dragon (Jim Dale.. he also does the audio narration for all the harry potter books). Great movie!

So many movies...
Classic animated: Peter Pan. When I was I kid I drove my mom crazy and played my Disney Peter Pan album (remember those, boomers?) every single morning.
Contemporary animated: Beauty and the Beast. Best Disney heroine: smart, brave, disgusted by he-man types, not waiting for her prince to come.
CA: Monsters Inc. Don't know why, I just love it.
Classic live-action: Mary Poppins: I listened to the album, played the sheet music, sang the songs constantly, and my Mary Poppins doll was a prized possession.
Contemporary live-action: Parent Trap. One of the few remakes that is better than the original, IMO.

I have always loved the Jungle Book and the Sword in the Stone. Then Pocahontas and Hunchback of Notre Dame always good ones. One contemporary animated I have come to like is Treasure Planet, plus I love the song in it

I'm gonna be a bit different here and say my favorite classic is Robin Hood. I know the story has been done 100 times in various formats, but the animated Disney version is great with the song, and the animals used fit the characters.

Oooooooo De Laly! I do love the music in that one! Especially the rooster at the beginning (which was stolen by the dancing hampsters)

Yeah Robin Hood definitely came to mind as I was writing Sword in the Stone down in my last post, and I agree it is a very good movie. Another movie I really enjoy is "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" I really love the songs in it and the football scene I think is so funny everytime I see it!

I've been a Robin Hood fan since I've been a kid. My brother and I used to watch it all the time. My wife thought it was the funniest thing when she met my brother because neither of us knew the words to the song at the beginning of the movie, so we both sang it the same way. "Robin Hood and little John running through the forrest, something something something something, trying to get away." What made it funnier was that we did it at different times without eachother in the room. We just both thought about it the same way.

Wow! Picking a favorite is hard. I have to say Aladdin is my all time fave, but coming close behind are Sleeping Beauty, Emperor's New Groove, Pirates: Curse of the Black Pearl, and Little Mermaid. Yeah, I know that's a bit of a list, but in my opinion, those represent some of Disney's finest flicks.
