Ugg, having computer issues, as in my macbook won't boot. It tries and sits at the grey apple screen spinning for a while then just goes black. Any other Mac users with suggestions? Best guess from my friends diagnosis is a bad hard drive. Going to try a time machine reinstall this weekend and cross my fingers. All that to say, unfortunately posting will continue to be sporadic until I can get a fixed or spare computer.

It might be a bad hard drive. I have to say, I was never very happy with my MacBook Pro :/ and especially with after how much I spent on it. Ugh ~ If it's anything else, the time machine should do the trick ~ Good luck!

Yep, bad hard drive. When I tried to reinstall from a time machine back up it wouldn't even find the internal hard drive as a destination. It's unmounted for some reason and won't remount. So going to have to get a new HD (likely going solid state). Don't know how to get the OS back on it though. Do you know if you install a completely empty drive if booting into recovery mode will work? I wouldn't expect so since there's no OS on the computer and no recovery partition but the internet seems a bit vague on whether it works for sure. Once I can get into recovery mode I think I should be able to go back to the plan of using a time machine back up.
