The membership price is pretty steep for (essentially) only 4 magazines a year. I know I'm not going to the expo thing... can't say as I think the certificate is worth the money either. I'm gonna have to think about it.

Also, this on the FAQ page made me laugh out loud.

I get the community aspect that they are aiming at, but not to kiss too much ars; subsonic's site is way better for a community center than that. It had the look and feel of general marketing spiel.

I just don't think it is worth it to pay $75 for the club just to have the CHANCE to buy "cool" things. Just not worth it in my opinion. Most of the "exclusive" stuff is that disney sells is priced higher than most people can afford, and now they want me to pay just for the right to buy it.......I don't think so. They may take all my money at the gate or at th hotel but for this merchandise they can...........anywho this is just my 2 cents.

don't forget it's not JUST $75 to join. it's $75 PER YEAR. That means $75 every year you continue to be a member, with the chance that the price of membership will go up in the future (like the park tickets or hotel rates do). Plus, on top of that, if you want to do anything extra (like the "expo" they say will be annual), you'll have to pay for that as well...

All this talk makes me wonder if this is going to blow back up in thier faces for the reasons that people are giving here..

Are people going to want to pay for this, knowing rates may go up and you still have to pay for other things like the expo and such?

I am really interested to see what happens....

Yes, people will buy this. Just like they bought that $400,000 house when they can really only afford a $130,000 house. Like they bought that brand new Hummer that gets a whopping 10MPG knowing gas prices are rising.

For me, I will not be buying into this; if I really really want the magazine, according to the article here it is available at Barnes and Noble. The rest, meh.
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Did you look at the stuff, too? There's an $850 pen. If that's too rich for your blood, though, there's a $300 one, too.

I honestly think they've lost their minds. Actually, I'll rephrase that. I hope they've lost their minds, because otherwise this is just utter contempt for their fans. "You're our loyal supporters and have been for years; to say thank you, we're going to take more of your money so that you'll be able to give us even more money. Lucky you!" The more I think about it, the more it disgusts me.

Well, the quarterly magazine is $16 per issue so if you are thinking of picking up every one you might as well join to get the other perks (if you want to call them that) - would only be $11 extra after the $64 the magazines would cost anyway.
