What about the Grand Floridian?!? :? :?:
I honestly don't think that the Bellagio had that nice of a lobby. We stayed there in 2001 and I was not "wow"ed by it. As for the Grand Floridian I feel that it is kind of plain and really does not give me the "disney" feel.

Are we limited to WDW resorts only? The best hotel lobby to me ever is the Disneyland Paris Hotel. What other resort lobby can you find that has Mary Poppins and Bert dancing through its lobby???

Mary Poppins and Bert perform "Jolly Holiday" and "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" live on the grand staircase:

It was many years ago, but I hope that Mary and Bert are still dancing every day...

I would just like to say that my favorite WDW Resort Lobby is the " Grand Flordian"
Mainly when you walk in and hear the piano playing and the theme song from "Somewhere in Time" is playing. :donald: :goofy: :mickey3:

Personally I love Bellagio's lobby! The beautiful Chihuly designed glass flowers on the ceiling and it's across from the conservatory which is changed out several times a year to follow the seasons...I'll have to post some pics sometime.

I guess it depends on what type if person you are by what impresses you.

ok, done with the off-topic stuff...sorry 'bout that!

It was in November of '08, so not that long ago. We were there for the Aloha Dinner and took a shortcut through the lobby to get out to the taxi area. I had to hold my breath most of the way through because of the cigarette smoke. The gift shop looked cool, but I couldn't stop to check it out. I was actually disappointed because I had really wanted to see it all. :( I never could figure out where the smoke was coming from, but I could tell it wasn't just blowing in from outside. There was too much of it, and it had that stale/old smell like stuff that's been around for a long time, so it was obviously an indoor area connected to the lobby where they allow smoking. That convinced me that it would always be like that, so I've never been back.

By no means have I visited all WDW lobbies, but the Poly is the best one I've seen so far.
Next time I need to schedule some me-time and knock a few more out!

How disappointing to have such a beautiful hotel atmosphere ruined by cigarette smoke. I realize most people aren't affected but I am like you Mouskedude and am highly allergic and wouldn't be able to stay in that area.
Does anyone know if smoking is still allowed there?
I know people who stay at the Grand Floridian on each trip but they have a "lodge" room in their home where cigars are welcome so I doubt they would even notice the smoke :(

Wow M-dude, I have no idea where that smoke would have been coming from?! You'll have to revisit with us in Dec. :D And although the lobby is noisy, I love to listen to the waterfall. There is something about the smell when you enter (not the smoke M-dude remembers) but a lush tropical smell. I love the Bou-tiki and also the gift shop on the second floor. There are some great views of the Castle on the second floor as well. I also love seeing the Monorail pull into the station. I get giddy just thinking about it!!!

We are still working out the details of our trip in December but if the Poly comes up then we are going to have to work real hard to convince M-dude to stay there. On our last visit it seemed very nice but yes, we were rushed out because of the cigarette smell. I listed to a podcast today. They reviewed the MK resorts and spent some time talking about the Poly and the wonderful smell of the tropical flowers and gardenias. According to WDW Today the gardenias have been there since the resort first opened.
I am sure that even if we do not stay there we will spend some time there and check it out in December.

Mouse Couple, if you stay at the Poly you will not be disappointed! I know part of my love for this resort are the fond memories I have are b/c I started going there as a child. But, it truly is beautiful. It's a Disney original and it is so lush b/c it's been there for so long! I wish I had my scanner set up b/c I would scan the pics. I have when we visited when I was 3, it's priceless to see how bare everything was, so new! And now, WOW! Everything is so grown in and lush. Huge difference! Some people say the Poly is too dark and the colors are dated, but when Disney did the refurb they did a fantastic job of staying with true Polynesia, all of the dark woods and natural colors of the Earth, oranges and browns. You can have a special appreciation of this resort if it's understood, it's true to it's theme. :D Plus, the Tonga Toast and Kona coffee, how can you go wrong? The rooms are also among the largest of any Disney resort.

Geez, I sound like a commercial!!! Obviously this is my fav. resort. :D
