Ya know, we've been going to WDW since 1997 and it wasn't until this past October that I really got hooked on the ride. (I think it was the ride-thru music here @ Subsconic that got me hooked) I have to ride it twice each time we're at Epcot.

I love Spaceship Earth, too. It's on the list of my favorites, but I have about 15 favorites, heh.

You're right, it is a classic. I hope they NEVER get rid of the classiscs like Pirates of the Carribean, Haunted Mansion, the People Mover, Carasoul of Progress. Very Happy
I don't think they actually COULD get rid of classics like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, the People Mover, and CoP. Could they? People, certainly me, would be devastated! I don't want to be a, well, I don't know how to put it, but isn't the CoP in danger of being closed down? I think I heard that somewhere, but I could just be making that up.. I really hope it doesn't get closed down. I really like that ride, and it was all Walt Disney's idea, and he really pushed it to be made. Does anyone know if I'm correct or not?

If you're one count me in as another, I love that ride. Not sure if it is the all-time-best-of-all-time fav but I think it is my winner for Epcot.

American Adventure would be my favorite ride in Epcot.
TOT at MGM
Dinosaur at AK
Splash or BTR at MK

It came down to HM or POTC. I went with POTC.

When I was young, my mother would tell me the HM was screaming my name. You know that sounds it makes? That howling noise? Heh, it freaked me out.

My mom has tried to scare me in The Haunted Mansion too, not the same way your mother did with you, but something similar to that.

I don't want to change topics too much, but does anyone know the real truth about The Haunted Mansion, and someone dying in there? Because I read it on a website dedicated to The Haunted Mansion. And it wasn't trying to scare you, it wasn't like someone was murdered in there. It was an accident. I have the article about someone dying in The Haunted Mansion, but I won't post it until someone can tell me more.

I voted for the Haunted Mansion.. Afterall, I've been in the the real mansion that Disney used as model for the Haunted Mansion. If anyone wants to know about the real one, just ask and I'll provide the background.

Asa Packer was a Coal, Railroad, Ship, and Steel Baron in the late 19th century. He lived in what was called Mauch Chunk Pa. and is now called Jim Thorpe Pa., which is located in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains.
Asa Packer founded Lehigh University in Bethlehem Pa.
When his son Harry Packer was getting married, Asa built for him a mansion which is adjacent to his own.
The Harry Packer Mansion was used as a basis for Disney's Haunted Mansion. I don't know how they found the mansion, and I can only guess that one of the imagineers grew up in Jim Thorpe or had visited the town.
The Mansion is currently a bed and breakfast, and you can tour ASA Packer's Mansion next door also. I've included a link for anyone who may want to visit it.

I've heard about that! There was a link to it on a Haunted Mansion website that I visit. It has all different things about The Haunted Mansion you can look at, like fun facts and its history and architecture. Where they talk about the building of The Haunted Mansion, they talked about the Harry Packer Mansion and how it served as The Haunted Mansion's model in Walt Disney World. Disney sent scouts out to find castles and mansions that could serve as a inspiration, and they came all the way up to Pennsylvania where they found the perfect example. They liked the way it was built and thought its architecture would be perfect for the ride in Walt Disney World.

I think Space Mountain is such a classic that it has so be my favorite. I love some of the newer rides Rockin' Rollercoaster, Tower of Terror, TEst Track, for example. Haven't been on Mission Space yet, so can't judge on that. I think part of it is the ride being on almost complete darkness. Even though it has no real large drops and doesn't go super fast, it's just got that great classic coaster feel to it.

I feel the same way. Space Mountain is definitely a classic, and will always be. I appreciate that ride so much and is one of the biggest highlights of the Magic Kingdom, or should I say the whole trip.
