Tinker Bell Movies
Has anyone seen the new Tinker Bell movie yet? I was skeptical of a voiced Tinker Bell at first, but now that I found out she's a spunky tinker (essentially an engineer just like me!) I'm feeling much more open minded. The whole fairy world does look amazing and far better than any princess!
I have yet to see the film though, any thoughts?

Personally, it looks to me like a cynical attempt to build a franchise out of a little-used character and thus pump money out of the parents of little girls.
Of course, as a 30-year old guy, I'm not exactly the target audience for this. For me, there's stuff like Transformers, which is a cynical attempt to capitalize on the nostalgia guys my age have for the toys we had in the '80s.

Amen, but I have ranted on this topic enough in another post.Future Guy wrote:Personally, it looks to me like a cynical attempt to build a franchise out of a little-used character and thus pump money out of the parents of little girls.

I had to go to walmart the other day, and they were playing the movie in the electronics department on all the TVs. While I was not impressed by the dialog (from the 2 minutes I watched, the writing sounded like it was written by/for a 3 year old). though, I must say, the animation was ALMOST as good as Pixar.

I haven't seen it yet. I'm a little torn about seeing it at all, given my inclination to avoid any of Disney's obvious ... shilling, for lack of a better word, of its older franchises.
I have to say, though, that I've seen some pictures and heard reviews of the new Pixie Hollow 'attractions' they have set up at DL and WDW, and they sound really well thought out. I might have to give the movie a second look after all.

True, and probably due to the oversight and producing of this by John Lasseter himself. It's about time they got out of the string of little boys movies and did something for little girls. He was starting to get some heat for that and this was his first step.js3901 wrote:I had to go to walmart the other day, and they were playing the movie in the electronics department on all the TVs. Also, I think it was intended to target 3 year olds (or around there). We picked up the movie this week and my daughter LOVES it. New movies are always a big hit but this one she really got excited about. We can comment on what think is good for Disney to produce but I will tell you for sure the "target" audience for this thinks it is a hit.

I actually haven't seen any commercials for it yet. Hmmm, I guess maybe I've lived under a rock for a while??? ha ha. My kids have not said anything about it either, which is unusual for my household. Two of my kids were into the whole Tinkerbell...Disney Fairies thing for the last couple of years. Was the movie just released in theaters or on DVD?
