Brief idea....

Post by IMFearless » Aug Mon 04, 2008 7:28 am

When I request a song, I am told what position in the queue it is. I think it may be useful if this same dialog tells the user what time that track will play. Just a thought.

Along those same lines, would it be possible to show the request queue? It happens that a song I want to hear is "in queue," but I will miss it due to lunch schedule or other reasons I am away from my computer. It would be nice to know when the songs are to play so I can adjust my schedule accordingly.

if you look at the "Now Playing" page, that shows you the active queue. it will also tell you what time it will play, so can plan your time accordingly.

Along those lines, is there anyway to adjust the time to our local time zones? Right now it seems set up to Mountain time. At least on my page.

You an adjust the timezone in your profile settings, though I've always found it to have a problem with daylight saving time. I can get the right time on the boards, or on the now playing page, but not both at the same time. It's an easy mental adjust for me on the now playing though; just pick which one's more important to you for the correct time I guess.

Yeah, for some reason it posts the times in Eastern time for me even though I'm setup as central - though I'm ok doing the math. I have to do it at work all the time supporting various time zones.

JWG: Three words: Daylight Savings Time. It often messes with stuff like this. That's probably what's wrong.

Is there a "Now Playing" queue web page for the background music channel?

No, i dont think there is. I believe that is because the stream is based on random selections.

I really wish we had this, but alas we don't. :(
Kind of a bummer, but we're limited by the technology we have.

Is it not possible to make the background stream act like the request stream when there are no users requesting (i.e. one track playing with two in the queue--all randomly selected by the computer)?

No, it's not with the current setup we have. :( Trust me, I want to do that, but can't.

I hear what you're saying, but to do that would most likely involve a difficult algorithm. Im not 100% sure on that, but it sounds like it would take some work on the code.
