I don't think I'd like it Epcot, though, since (as far as we know) a trip into a black hole would lead certain death before getting anywhere the thing. Even if it turns out that they are portals, I think we'd be spaghetti by the time we got to the other side."

Well, my ride idea borrows a bit from Space Mountain, but I wouldn't call it a retheming personally. More like the relation Everest has with Big Thunder, with Everest being much more intense. Black Hole we can say is a much tougher version of Space Mountain, because for a while you have no idea where you are going.

A black hole could be a harmless portal, you never know, have YOU been inside one?

And one final note, I have not seen the Disney movie either, just bits and pieces. However, it looked like a fun film that unfortunately had to compete with the likes of Star Wars.

It goes from 0 to 60 an amazing speed than zooms you through Magic Kingdom than Epcot and get pixie dusted by Tinkerbell at the end...

I understand what you mean, and I personally don't want it tied in to the movie. But a few nods to the unknown 70s flick couldn't hurt

However, if we were to improve Tomorrowland and try to make it the way Walt wanted it to be, we would have more than one Space Mountain-esque ride, this is inevitable. We already have three attractions in Tomorrowland based in space (Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Stitch). The final frontier, the future of mankind lies in space, which we have barely even scratched the surface.

The Black Hole doesn't have to resemble Space Mountain at all, it can be a totally different experience, even if the setting is the same.

I see what you're saying there but I'm not sure Splash is a good example of that for a couple of reasons. For one, the Brers always had at least a little presence not associated with the film because I remember them from when I was little around Easter and such (and that was some time after Disney'd already decided it wished that film didn't exist, apparently). I'd almost be surprised if the majority of guests today even knew that Splash was film-based. That and, alas, I don't think WDI of today would make Splash for that very reason; not a recent film, so not useful to capitalize on. So my thought there stands - I don't think they'd make an attraction based on a largely-unknown movie (anymore).

I still think the idea has merit though. Dropping the movie-tie in wouldn't hurt. I mean, beyond the name, what's the tie in anyway? The only reason I can see them tying it to a movie would be to make it easier to jam the gift shop on at the end (which is something they would want, I'm sure, and would do regardless. )

Well I'm not saying there can't or shouldn't be more than one -space based- ride in Tomorrowland. I'm saying that basing a significant portion of the ride on blasting around in total darkness (which was part of the originally posted idea) is honing in on SM's racket. There's a difference there, at least to my mind; perhaps it wasn't clear before. I'm all for space-y things, but I don't want identical things/gimmicks in, like, 5 different rides.

I don't call Space Mountain's trip total darkness, I want this sucker to totally engulf you in darkness, with little or no hope of seeing where on earth you are heading next. My idea came about when I went on Big Thunder, and the first portion of the ride featured a little moment in total darkness. I used to think, "Wouldn't it be neat to have a much lengthier sequence involving uncertainty of where you are going?"

My dream project would be to create a new pavilion from scratch in Future World or to take over either Stitch or MILF in Tomorrowland and inject some real science back into the place. Particularly I'd like to put a NASA-type experience back into the attraction Stitch is squatting, for historical reasons. Maybe I'll write about one of those projects later.

A while ago, I spent some time daydreaming about a new Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. It would be another pleasant and fun dark ride, but nothing extravagant.

The highlight would be your interaction with Toad in his motorcar, and the cops and weasels chasing him. As you drive through the countryside, you'd hear honking from behind you and Toad shouting something like "I say, you fellows! Out of the way!" and then he'd sideswipe you as he passed you, along with cars full of cops and weasels. This would of course send your car careening out of control, and you'd criss-cross through town, occasionally regaining control, only to witness the chase again from various perspectives (such as passing right in front of you on a perpendicular street, making you swerve again into an appropriate chicken coop or some other nod to the original attraction).

At certain points, you'd drive past the other vehicles, which had clearly smashed into trees and fences and things, in pursuit of Toad. You wouldn't actually see the collisions, just the cars flipped over with weasels and/or cops holding their heads and such. Like I said, C-Ticket stuff.

Toad would eventually crash and the weasels would have Toad cornered. He'd escape through a small hole in a fence or something (god forbid a toad should ever make an impressive jump). They'd give chase and there'd be some confusion, and then the top of your vehicle would get bumped by the bottom of a plane Toad had stolen, and he'd fly off into the sunset, like the end of his movie.

Short and sweet. I suppose it borders on the dreaded "Something has gone wrong!" plotline, but really you're just injected into the middle of a car chase. At least it's not "Where's Toad?".

And it does lose the magic of the whole you-are-Toad theme from the original attraction (ie, everything is first person and Toad doesn't actually appear in the ride), but that did seem to confuse people.

I guess it doesn't surprise me that the original attraction is better than my derivative idea, but I just thought I'd contribute my daydream to the thread.
