I enjoy the look of classic animation, except for those rare moments when the camera zooms in for a close-up and the facial features don't stay in proportion. Ugh.

Pixanimation has its moments though -- like Nemo's trip to school -- which are simply amazing. Just the sea alone was amazingly lifelike. And yet, my son saw Toy Story the first time the other day and was clearly dismayed by how the human characters looked.

Regardless, I must say the Pixar stories are *brilliant.* Often featuring complex, compelling, and contradictory emotions that are typically brushed over in the classic Disney films, even when they were the original basis of the tales upon which they are based.

Pixar's films seem to always work on story, and ultimately, that's what its all about. Of late, this is Disney's greatest weakness.
No, no... He's got a point.

Didn't I hear somewhere that Disney is now going back to traditional 2D animation. One of the main supporters of that is John Lasseter.

Yes, Lasseter took over Disney animation and wants to bring back the 2D stuff. Which I hope that also means he's gonna take care of that Disney 3D animation problem, by having Pixar do it all.

There should have been at least one more answer on the poll if not two or three. So hard to decide between the two.

If you asked me around the time Toy Story came out I would have said classic Animation. If you asked me around the time Monster's Inc came out I would have said the same but it would have been a close call.

By the time of Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Cars, I think Pixar has pulled into the lead. But BARELY.

I especially think about the driving scene in Cars, looking at the landscape and the waterfall and all that... it was so well done, it looked not quite real but it didn't look fake at all. It looked consistant with the look of Cars. But it didn't look "obviously CG", and Ithink its one of the finest examples of Computer Animation ever made.

Thats not to say a good hand-drawn film won't swing me back. But hand drawn needs to play to its strengths, the stylistic elements that just aren't possible with CG. "Mulan" being a good example of stylisitc hand drawn animation (even with CG elements). But Mulan looks like a moving ink-painting, something CGA can't do.

I think Uncle Walt the forward thinker he was would have embraced CG Animation, but conversly I don't think he would have abandoned hand-drawn for its sake.

I prefer classic animation anyday. The computer animation IS pretty good and I give those people their due but I just think the classic animation is just what it is called, CLASSIC. I just wish they could keep both but in order to stay updated, you must stick with what sells the best which right now is computer animation.

I love both but the original hand drawn is so classic. The problem is when the story line is so bad it takes away from admiring the art. Same can happen for Computer Animated. What I don't understand is both are an art form just done in different ways. Why can't they equally coexist with out canceling out the other?

It's very close, but I think I have to pick classic Disney.

Mary Poppins/Bedknobs were great movies. I wish they would make another one of those someday.

The animation is in general great for both. The most important thing is story! I love the old clasics for their story telling ability. I love the computer stuff for the same reason. The CARS movie has a great story. It is perfect for kids and fun for adults.

I would pick the classic animation over computer animation any day. I do, however, agree that Disney's animated films have pretty much been crap lately. I liked Mulan. I think that was the last one. I love the Pixar stuff, but I really do miss the awesome Disney animated movies.

I voted Classic, but truthfully, I'd like to see one of each each year. I liked when Disney used to have the Pixar film in November and the animated film in June/July.

its classic for me. although the only computer animation movies I enjoy are toy story 1&2 and Monster's inc. After that, I really don't care for much.

Oh wow. I love both but there are a few classic Disney movies that I love. I'm not partial to the ones that came out recently but there are a few that are my favorites. I would have to say Pixar since I love all the ones that came out sans Ratatouille since I have yet to see it.
