Mothers Day

Post by Dr. Ravenscroft » May Sun 04, 2008 10:25 pm

Anyone notice that the thread "What songs do you dread"(basically what songs you don't like) is up to 45 pages long,
viewtopic.php?t=174&start=0
BUT by contrast the thread dealing with what songs you like is only 11 pages long.
viewtopic.php?t=1821&start=0
Goes to show that we all voice or opinions when we don't like something, but we rarely praise things we like, we take them for granted...........
So please with Mothers Day only a week away please show your Mothers, Wifes, Sisters, etc. that they are appreciated. Plan ahead, make a dinner reservations, buy them something wonderful, let them know that they are loved and appreciated.

Happy Mother's Day! Well, almost anyhow. I'm buying my mom a present and hopefully we'll be going to the MN Arboretum (if the weather's warm enough to make things bloom). I wish I could be taking her on a Disney vacation though!
Drop another coin in slot and I will tell you more.

I have some $$$ saved up, so maybe we'll go to Cracker Barrel for a Mother's Day breakfast that morning. I can afford breakfast; I just don't know I can afford the gas to get to the restaurant! :p

My mom LOVES this bracelet at a local shop, but it's $85. So I looked online and found it listed for $50. BUT the store is based in my home state, so not only would I have to pay $4 to ship it, I'd have to pay $4 dollars in taxes, too. I was willing to do it for my mom, but surely I could find someone else who sold it in another state so I wouldn't have to pay those extra $4? (I'm a penny pincher!) Well, long story short, I didn't find it anywhere else, BUT the store online was selling it through Amazon, and so long as I signed up for that amazon credit card, I'd get $30 off! (Don't worry, I checked the fine print - no annual fee, no weird charges. I'll just be sure to cut it up when I get it in the mail).

And that's how I got an $85 bracelet for $28 bucks. Lookatmego.

I'm not sure what we have planned but I think we'll be taking our mom and grandmother out to dinner. That's what I think. I have yet to talk to my step-dad about the plans.

Mom & Mom-in-law live too far away for a dinner. So, I'm sure we'll be sending something.

As for my wife, the kids and I will be taking her on our annual trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo, followed by a dinner out (her choice) in Pittsburgh before making the 90 minute drive back home.

My parents motorhome full-time, spending quite a bit of time around WDW (surprise!). Right now, they're somewhere in GA. They only spend a few weeks at one place because they have a nomadic job that keeps them criss-crossing the states. Anyway, even though I'll buy her a gift, she probably won't get it until the fall.

I'm actually going to be out of town for the weekend, so there won't be a Mothers' Day for my wife. :(

I'll be giving her a card and cooking her one of her favorite meals at home. Maybe send her out for the night with her friends and watch the kids... :)

I try not to play-up Mothers' Day too much - just do little things thoughout the year whenever I can.

I'll probably be heading home, probably with a present or two. :)

My mother doesn't like to go out to eat on Mother's Day (too crowded). So, we'll all just be eating in that day.

I'm going to get her a gift, but right now, I can't possibly imagine what would be good enough to get her.
