Wow, this vote is split right down the middle!

I voted "yes". It's very rare that I can get a selection played with less than a two hour wait.

I don't mind listening to other people's selections. But it would be nice to get a song played within the hour sometimes.

But lebeau, is it because one person ties it up? Or just that there are many people who are making requests when you're here?

They're very separate issues, I think!

What's "funny" to me about this is that I came from listening to a different Disney station on live365.com. There, I had to "endure" whatever that online DJ had selected as tracks, and in whatever order. I had absolutely no option other than turn the station on, or turn the station off. So maybe this setup at Subsonic seems like no big deal to me because I came from there where I had no options at all. At least here, even if the queue is long, there are times the queue is short and I can make a request. Elsewhere, you can't always do that.

I agree, they are separate issues. I've got no problem with waiting while a bunch of people's requests get played.

Generally speaking, during the work day, it's not uncommon to see someone has blocked out over an hour at a time. I don't think limiting everyone to one hour blocks will crimp anyone's style. There will still be long waits. And I'm fine with that.

I do have to say that this is true for me too. I don't look at who is requesting either.

I hear ya, casrin. After I first 'discovered' subsonic (after searching the web for something that wasn't live365 because it's blocked at work), I tried occasionally listening to the old 365 stations at home from time to time. I really caught myself on a number of occasions listening to some track or other and thinking "Oh! I should request... wait ... dangit..." (and then invariably toddling back over here to request it if I could ;) ).

This whole debate is interesting to me from the standpoint of my usual listening hours when the queue is quite frequently empty (yes, empty). I logged in during the normal North American 'workday' hours last week to check and was astonished to see something like 3 hours in the request queue (from multiple users, though).

I have to agree with marcdijon's point though; my treasures list is a lot bigger because of other people's requests for songs/tracks I hadn't heard of before. But I can see how it'd be frustrating to go your whole work day without being able to get a request in if you wanted to. It's a tricky problem.

I agree with the people who have pointed out the long queue/short queue problem - maybe there should only be a time restriction on requests if the queue is already X minutes in length? Is it possible to set such a restriction up? I certainly think that restricting the number of requests at, say 1:30 a.m. is of little import to anyone (except the person who really, really wants to hear the whole "Wilderness Lodge Loop" *and* "Old Lady and Tootie" at that time of night).

I have added quite a few tracks to my Treasures list from listening to other people's requests.

When I'm at work, I actually prefer to just listen to what other people are requesting. I don't want to take a lot of time from my work to go scrolling through requesting tracks. Also, I don't get as frustrated if I get interrupted or have to stop listening.

Both sides have a valid perspective. Those who've been involved for a long time should feel a benefit from that. The flip side is, in the Disney spirit, all guests should be welcomed as special. It's unfortunate to see comments like newbie jerk or schmoe.

I think there should be a limit... but not too low... maybe something like 5 or 6... but also keeping the 1 hour limit in play... so they can request 5 or 6 tracks, so long as they don't go over an hour.

Also, maybe place some time of day restrictions. Yes, it's a 24x7 world on the internet, but there are obvious times that it's going to be busier then others. During those times, limit people to 5 or 6... but then later on, during the slower times, allow maybe 10 or 11... or something like that.
