Just listened to Journey Into Imagination ride-thru...

Post by davyjones » Jun Thu 08, 2006 3:52 pm

...and I think I'm gonna cry. I miss that ride so much. It was sooooo fun. The opening, where you ride in a circle and follow the set with Dreamfinder and Figment was brilliant! Yes, I'm definitely gonna cry. Excuse me a sec.

Okay, I'm back. I'm better now. Still a little sad though. I sure wish they could've just "plussed" that attraction rather than start over. You know, throw in some cool new effects once in a while. Anyway, I'm rambling.....sorry. Just meant to say, that's my favorite track.

I agree. I miss this attraction a lot along with other gone Epcot attractions such as World of Motion and Horizons.

How can you not miss the introduction of Figment. I think that is one of the classic lines in disney ride songs. "Two tiny wings, eyes big and yellow..." Only the Dreamfinder could bring out the royal purple pigment of Figment. I also miss the original UoE. I love Bill Nye, but it's just not the same!!

See, I'm one of those people that actually loved Captain EO. I know everyone's got their own opinions on Michael Jackson, but no matter what I think he was talented and there were a lot of other famous names that were a part of EO. Frank Oz, Angelica Houston, of course George Lucas and Francis Ford Coppola.

Michael Jackson wasn't quite the freak he is today when Captain EO came out - it was brilliant at the time and it's great to relive it here. By the way, is anyone else here TOTALLY over Honey I Shrunk the Audidence? I'm really ready for a new 4-D movie there.

And yeah, I really miss the original Journey ride - I miss Horizons and WOM even more. Sigh. :?

Yea that was one of my favorite rides as a kid. Figment doesn't even sound the same because it sounds like a new voice actor  On top of which who in their right mind thought Dr. Nigel Channing would be a more loveable character than Dreamfinder?? I also miss WoM a lot as that was my other fave in Epcot (plus Rio Del Tiempo) but atleast Test Track is nice - I can't stand that they put in M:S where Horizons was. Horizons was so much more entertaining in my opinion, and no I'm not one of the people who can't stand M:S because it's too intense but rather the opposite. It seems quite tame to me and the experience is quite forgettable, it's a thrill ride with no thrill. The only part I really remember is the takeoff sequence because a) I was nervous of how intense it'd be and b) you really do feel the g's during takeoff but it basically ends there.

I like Captain EO for the music that's about it. I think HISTA is still good too, I think I'm more over Muppetvision to be honest <gasp shock awe and horro>

I don't like HISTA but I do believe that Journey into Imagination (With Dreamfinder) did sound really good. Sounds pretty sad to see the original gone.

I totally agree!!! I'm hopeful that the rumors regarding the re-birth of "Journey" complete with Dreamfinder and Figment are true. The loss of this ride in addition to Horizons and World of Motion makes me long for the old Epcot.

There's rumors about a re-birth of the original Journey into Imagination? I hadn't heard anything like that. Wow, I wonder if it's one of the things they have planned for next years 35th annaversary! That'd be so neat. :mickey:

I've seen several references to rumors surrounding a re-birth of Journey, and this article is one of the better ones:

http://jimhillmedia.com/blogs/jim_hill/ ... /2379.aspx .

We can only hope that there's some truth in there somewhere.

If that article is right, and they would be redoing the pavilian for Pixar, does that mean that they would put elements from a Pixar movie into the ride? I know they are doing that with The Living Seas, but does every ride in Disney have to have a movie attached to it now? If that is what they are going to do, I would almost prefer they don't change it. IMO

I'll agree with you on the Pixar issue. It sometimes seems like the "powers that be" are intent on milking everything they can out of the movies/characters. That's understandable to an extent, but I would prefer like you to have some rides/attractions that just stand on their own merit and aren't tied to movies.

He just said that the Pixar guys are behind the change, not that they want to Pixarize it. If that's true, and they really do revert WDI's name back to WED, I think I might actually have to go back to WDW and spend some money, just to reward them.
