Re: Camera Discussion
OK, so I've uploaded the photos from DisneySea to my Flickr now. I've got quite a few more, but those're the ones that came out better. Some of them are still a bit noisy, but they're not too bad

Re: Camera Discussion
Been looking at your pictures and checking your settings. Your noise is all due to shooting at too high of an ISO. In broad daylight I always shoot at the lowest possible ISO, which is 100. According to flickr you were shooting at ISO 1600, thus the noise. What mode were you shooting in for all these?acp wrote:OK, so I've uploaded the photos from DisneySea to my Flickr now. Besides that I do like the pictures a lot. They will look amazing at 4x6 and still beat anything a point and shoot could have done. I have a few weeks of freedom right now so I hope to work on getting mine on flickr soon. I too made mistakes, it just gives me more reason to go back next year!

Re: Camera Discussion
Yeah, as I said a bit earlier in the thread, I had auto-ISO enabled, but wasn't aware of that. So I had actually set the ISO myself, but it was ignoring it and using its own values. Apparently, the software designers thought it'd be fun to put the indicator on the status screen for auto-ISO nowhere near the actual ISO setting display, so I didn't notice itLen90 wrote:Been looking at your pictures and checking your settings. Yeah, there's some in there that're quite good. I was actually quite surprised to find this one in there, too - I didn't spot it the first time I went through the directory.Besides that I do like the pictures a lot. ^ This. Next time (which I'm currently looking at next year) I'll be a bit better prepared (read: maybe actually know more about how to use the camera ).I too made mistakes, it just gives me more reason to go back next year!

Re: Camera Discussion
Just ordered a new toy for my 6D... 35mm f1.4 L I've seen great results from people who have brought this to the parks. It's a low light specialist and I can't wait until it arrives this week. Hoping to put it to good use in the near future!

Re: Camera Discussion
Quickly skimmed through my pictures as I am trying to work on my trip report and came across this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/93082249@N02/9011794229/
Caught something similar to it a few years ago, but I think the dslr handled it better than the point and shoot did back then.

ZOMG I love this shot. THIS is the one I would have made into a poster. Very nicely done.Len90 wrote:Quickly skimmed through my pictures as I am trying to work on my trip report and came across this one: http://www.flickr.com/photos/93082249@N02/9011794229/

Re: Camera Discussion
I'm probably going to print it, but just not sure what size yet. Only really needed one 24x36 and I opted for something that was bright and vibrant.cy1229 wrote:ZOMG I love this shot. Re: Camera Discussion
You should look into having it printed on metallic paper with Adorama. My stepmom has a lot of her landscapes done on that paper and she loves the finish. I think the bright areas would just shimmer printed on that paper. You could go smaller, with a dark mat and a dark frame. It would look really good.Len90 wrote:I'm probably going to print it, but just not sure what size yet. Re: Camera Discussion
Probably aiming at an 18x24 or 20x24 for that one and will go with a mat type paper at Staples. Keep in mind these will be used to decorate my apartment for school. Will be in a black frame.

I don't know what Staples charges, but currently Adoramapix is quoting $13.70 for a 16x24 and $17.52 for a 20x24 metallic lustre print.Len90 wrote:Probably aiming at an 18x24 or 20x24 for that one and will go with a mat type paper at Staples. Re: Camera Discussion
Sam's Club enlargements are very reasonable and are printed on photo paper. That is where I do any of my bigger sized photos. I just went and checked their website and they actually offer a mat and frame with a free enlargement and free shipping. Might be worth checking their package...here is the direct link if you are interested ~ http://samsclubus.pnimedia.com/HomeDecor/cy1229 wrote:I don't know what Staples charges, but currently Adoramapix is quoting $13.70 for a 16x24 and $17.52 for a 20x24 metallic lustre print.Len90 wrote:Probably aiming at an 18x24 or 20x24 for that one and will go with a mat type paper at Staples. Re: Camera Discussion
I need a tripod for my Canon camera. Is there a Tripod which one of you can recommend for using at the parks? Or should I buy a gorillapod?
I also need some hints and advices to photograph fireworks.

Re: Camera Discussion
My best suggestion is a Bogen set of legs and a ball head. Big minus is that they're pretty heavy and a pain to carry, though. Nearly anything lightweight won't be tall enough or sturdy enough to give you the results your want.
