Re: Bowling in WDW
Congo golf on the 192 was closed this year when we went passed, all the others were still up and running and everything was still running on I drive.
Re: Bowling in WDW
There's still a crap load of different locally owned mini golf places all around Kissimmee. There'e even one across the street at Cross Roads (behind the Fridays and Sweet Tomatoes) and another about two miles, if even, south of that.Wizzard419 wrote:It's a little different, I would imagine, at a vacation resort. But those are still in a tourist town. And I would guess those aren't as busy as the Disney themed courses...MadEye wrote:There's still a crap load of different locally owned mini golf places all around Kissimmee. They're doing something right. They've been around since before I moved to Central Florida and only a few have closed for good (ones that are further away from Disney/attractions area).Amy wrote:But those are still in a tourist town. But that's the thing, are the ones in non tourist areas ever that busy? I'm thinking all these places must own the land since that would be the largest chunk of their overhead.

Re: Bowling in WDW
We have one over here in Tampa (Channelside district in Downtown)
It's a nice change from the regular old alley.
If you've ever been to a Dave & Busters, similar... but on steroids.
Here's the most recent link for info.
I like the fact they are charging by the hour and not the game.

Re: Bowling in WDW
Thanks for the info MadEye. When I was there about 2 weeks ago, it didn't look like it was anywhere CLOSE to being open. The outside still had a ton of cosmetic work left to do. And, I think I read that it will be open until 2am.

Re: Bowling in WDW
It sounds like a cool idea but with my train of thought, I would probably think things like, "Hmm, either go bowling or ride Splash Mountain and Space Mountain. What to do?"
Unfortunately, I'm not at that point in my career where I can afford two week vacations at WDW, so I have to make the most of my time. In additon, I assume that the alley will be a crowd eater for the locals in order to ease up crowds in the parks and for more variety on WDW property.
But that's just my 1/50th of a dollar.

To be honest, I think this is mostly geared towards the off-duty Cast Members and locals. It sure is a helluva lot closer to me than the last one I went to in Kissimmee.BuDz211 wrote:It sounds like a cool idea but with my train of thought, I would probably think things like, "Hmm, either go bowling or ride Splash Mountain and Space Mountain. Re: Bowling in WDW
It's still weird that bowling exists still, most of them have turned into laser bowling but still, huge piece of real estate and a dwindling customer base due to death or lack of interest. The question is, which will last longer, bowling alleys or shopping malls?

Re: Bowling in WDW
I think what will help this thing last is that it is more like a night club with a bowling alley in the middle. Several bars, loud music, club style low lighting. Like Mad Eye stated, this will probably be a huge hit for CM's and locals.
Re: Bowling in WDW
If the inside is as popular as the outside first floor bar across from the AMC theater box office, it is a huge success already.NaCler wrote:I think what will help this thing last is that it is more like a night club with a bowling alley in the middle. The question is, can they keep it up or will a normal night be a handfull of tourists from flyover states?

Re: Bowling in WDW
I'm not sure I would bowl at WDW. I do enjoy it sometimes but it doesn't seem the place for it. It's like when they had the nightclubs at Downtown Disney. I love to dance but not at Disney. When I'm at WDW, I want to do Disney related things, not things I can do back home.
