I have a picture of it as well taken on my birthday. I'll still be sad to see it go. Hellooooo, it's a CA landmark, and this park is supposed to be about CALIFORNIA! They can't take it away! It looked so pretty at Christmastime, too.

Do we know for SURE if they are doing this or not?? I'm curious because if they are planning to take it down, I'd like to try to get out there again......

Yes they will be doing it. It is all part of a re-themeing of DCA that will be coming in the next few years. Since the monorail is shutdown in that section anyway because of the construction on the new sub voyage. the monorail will still operate between tomorrowland station and DTD and then onto the hotels then it reverses. The part with all of the turns is shutdown.

I think it will be interesting to see what makeover they in DCA. Does anyone else think they just have a lot of empty space at certain parts? or am I just mistaken?

Well honestly I believe the whole Paradise pier is kind of dead in spots. Yes they have interesting if not cool rides there but I noticed that no one was at the little carnival games area, they just walk past it. And I noticed (and did it myself) that allot of people only go to DCA until about 12-1pm then head over to DLR. I went in and did monster's (thought it was short), muppets(and thought I was in MGM), TOT, Ferris Wheel, Soarin, Grizzly River run and I felt I was done and went over to DLR.

If, in fact, that is what they are planning to do, then sure, change away...

Although, I can't see something so invasive (disruptive during construction) as a monorail track continuing through DCA being a priority for DL/DCA unless there is a station placed in DCA. The cost would be better spent on other attractions. People will ride whether it "skims" or loops.

Totally true, TrojanGrad. We'll flash by behind Soarin' and someone will say, "Was that Soarin'?" whereas, unlike the trip to the Tomorrowland Station, there are big, wide curves over a humungous landscape (such as the Submarine Lagoon).

Trees wouldn't be a bad addition, as long as they don't just rip up the fountain and add some random trees.

I think it's stupid to change a very popular item with any Main Entrance. Yes CA isn’t doing very well. But do they think that removing the bridge will draw in the crowds? How about they dump more money into another E ticket attraction, which at least has a better chance of helping!

I agree, they should have another really cool ride.

They should rebuild everything between the Sun Wheel and the Golden Dreams theater.

One must-do is to enclose Mulholland Madness. Throw some headlights on the cars and leave the track in total darkness so your car lights up the road signs and make it feel like you're really careening through Mulholland Dr. There, a C+ ticket becomes an E ticket. One problem solved.

And while I'd hate to see the Golden Gate go... I can't hardly argue with any attempt to increase the number of trees at that sparse park.
I believe that they meant gaudy not Goti like the mobster family :D I like the GGB cause its a classic tribue to California, and is recognized around the world.

I think I heard that they planned to make the entrance look more like the Grand Californian... so a more "natural" california look reminiscent of the national parks.

I think I'd prefer this much more. The golden gate bridge doesnt really scream "theme park" to me =p

It looks like Disney has decided to use the money for new rides instead of re-doing the entrance. Here's an excerpt of an article from JimHillMedia:

But what's really significant about this proposed Paradise Pier addition is that "Midway Madness" is being built in place of DCA's next placemaking project. Which was to have revamped the entire "Sunshine Plaza" section of Disney's California Adventure. So that -- when all this retheming was done -- the entrance area of this troubled theme park was then to have resembled the California that Walt Disney first encountered when he arrived in the Golden State back in August of 1923.

I really like the GG Bridge. I will be sad to see it go. Does anyone have any updates about this? This is the first I have heard about it.
