As far as the trip goes, we have yet to book airfare since I am hoping to see at least a small dip before they hike the prices. So far, the prices have been steady, but it doesn't seem like the flights are that full either. I will probably book airfare soon...

I hope you can make it in January Amy!!!!

F1gment has noticed a pretty good dip in airfare today with the prediction that it might continue for at least another few days at the very least. She said a lot of airlines were even eliminating their fees today~ like for baggage. I just hope it holds until we are both available to iron out the dates

I wonder if the fee dip is following whatever is (blissfully) happening to gas prices these last few days?!

Sending some pixie dust your way hoping you make it, Amy! Hopefully the fares do continue going down. It would be so great if they did but you know how that always seems to go...

Gas prices here in good old Idaho have gone UP. So frustrating!!!

EDIT: She can't remember offhand but will check tonight and let me know. Then I'll pass it along...she uses something that checks all the airfares at once and let's her compare. I don't know ~ airfare is her ballywick!

Others I have found by going to Bing.com and searching "best days to Fly", "best days to Buy",
The e.tripadvisors site does a search thru many airlines, just like a travel agent would use... it takes some time to sort them out... best is if you can do a "flexible date" if that would work, it gives you options, usually 1 to 3 days difference.....
We have bought thru Travelocity, Orbitz, and also the airline we want to fly.
enough info? if I run across others that do multiple searches will let you know.

Amy: have you guys checked Southwest?! They prices dipped on there, I noticed that yesterday! They never charge you for your first bag either!

I believe Amy mentioned once Southwest doesn't fly out of her area... which is a shame because if they dipped in price... and it's actually two free checked bags and two carry-on bags!

Yeah, they don't fly out of South Bend

and it is hard enough getting up and to the airport that is 45 minutes away for an early morning flight...I think getting to Chicago would be darn near impossible

Nah, it's okay. It's just disappointing since we hear all the time from people that fly Southwest what good deals they get...Jet Blue is another one I think. South Bend is still building more gates so I'm hoping they will get some more airlines in one of these days
