Worker at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon injured in hit-and-run crash, officials say
David Allen Miller, 48, was working as a parking attendant, a Disney official said.
By Jeff Weiner, Orlando Sentinel
6:02 p.m. EDT, June 20, 2011
A cast member at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon water park was hospitalized after an apparent a hit-and-run crash on Monday afternoon, officials said.
Sgt. Kim Montes, a spokeswoman for the Florida Highway Patrol, said troopers are looking for the driver who hit 48-year-old David Allen Miller in front of the water park about 1:15 p.m. and then drove off.
The suspect was believed to have been driving a gray 2007 Jeep, Montes said. Troopers were able to get part of the sport utility vehicle's tag number and a description.
David Allen Montes said investigators think they've identified a possible owner of the vehicle. They had not yet questioned that person Monday evening. Montes said charges are pending.
Miller, of Kissimmee, was taken to Florida Hospital Celebration Health after the crash. Troopers said his injuries are not considered to be life-threatening.
A Disney official confirmed that Miller is a cast member at the park, and was working as an attendant in the parking area when he was hit. Miller's condition was not available Monday evening.

Oh my goodness! I can't believe someone would hit a person and not stop to make sure they were ok?! Glad to hear his injuries are not considered life threatening.

I agree, I am amazed that they did not stop to check. I wonder if they will find this motorist?

Whoops! Thanks ~ I've got trauma on the brain having just finished some more of my continuing education tests for my EMS licensemindflipper wrote:Minor correction.Amy wrote:Oh my goodness! If they've got a partial license plate I have no doubt they will track the culprit down. We had a fatal hit and run several months back in the town nearby and they found the vehicle and person responsible based solely on evidence found at the scene.

Given its WDW, there's a ton of rental cars, so if it's one of those they may stand a good chance to hunt it down that way...

I'm not surprised, if someoen thinks they have a chance to avoid prosecution for an accident they may take it. I wonder if it was a rental car though, since they might be caught easier since someone's going to notice the damage to the car.

Rental car might be easy to track but the problem is getting the charges to stick and issue a warrant that they will extradite for. Glad to hear the injuries are non life threatening. However, I do have an issue with this occurring in pure daylight with most likely other people around the area and the motorist does not even think to stop.Wizzard419 wrote:I'm not surprised, if someoen thinks they have a chance to avoid prosecution for an accident they may take it. I am very surprised to hear this. I guess I always thought Disney security had the place wired up with cameras and such even in the PK lots. Glad the man will be ok.

That's good that the injuries aren't terribly serious, but that is terrible. Where is that Disney Magic?
I thought everyone was happier at WDW.

I always drive a little slower there anyway. Just looking around at all the stuff. This is why I prefer to stay on property and take a bus.

ugh, that's so not cool to hear. Glad to hear he'll be okay. Hope they find whoever did that.
