Well, there's the Little Mermaid, POTC (pirates sail on water), Bednob & Broomsticks (they had an underwater sequence),the Rescuers and the Princess & the Frog were in swamps (that's water),....Amy wrote:The Disney powers that be probably figure, hey we've got water, what Disney character can we plop into it?!jacobcary1 wrote:Not that Nemo is required to have water?

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
Animal Kingdom is my favorite park and it does still have so much potential. I wish they would go forward with the shelved Beastlie Kingdom area based on the mythical. I would go nuts if they did and brought over the Journey to the Center of the Earth and new version of 20,000 Leagues from DisneySea. I heard this rummor for years now. I also wish they would redevelope some form of boat ride around the water ways of the park. I agree Australia would be a great addition to AK. A koala forest would be great. I think a great addition would be if Disney could make an arrangment to get Pandas. That would be huge news. Maybe another major primate like orangatans.

I can't see believing any rumor about the Journey to the Center of the Earth and new version of 20,000 Leagues from DisneySea being added to AK - neither fit the theme for that park. Both would fit better in DHS (after all, they had made two films already with those titles).bravetaylor wrote:Animal Kingdom is my favorite park and it does still have so much potential. Pandas would probably be on the near impossible list for Disney since China is very very strict on them. All the ones they send out are "breeding pairs" and any offspring are then sent back after a few years.bravetaylor wrote: I think a great addition would be if Disney could make an arrangment to get Pandas. I wonder if one of the reasons they don't have that interesting (to me at least since the zoos here are more interesting) a selection is because of the environment of Florida?
Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
I think instead of adding another land it would be nice to have more thrill rides within the areas that already exist. Much like the FantasyLand renovation.

I wouldn't think the selection of animals would be due to the environment of Florida because they would be able to replicate any climate really...Wizzard419 wrote:Pandas would probably be on the near impossible list for Disney since China is very very strict on them. Hmmmm, as much as China wanted Shanghai Disneyland and did a ton to get Hong Kong Disneyland, I'm surprised they would consider loaning some pandas to DAK at WDW...Amy wrote:I wouldn't think the selection of animals would be due to the environment of Florida because they would be able to replicate any climate really...Wizzard419 wrote:Pandas would probably be on the near impossible list for Disney since China is very very strict on them. I think they try to stick to the hot damp parts of the world so that they have the best conditions for their exhibits.Amy wrote:I wouldn't think the selection of animals would be due to the environment of Florida because they would be able to replicate any climate really...Wizzard419 wrote:Pandas would probably be on the near impossible list for Disney since China is very very strict on them. Hmmmm, now that I think about this, they don't have any real bear exhibits there, do they? There are bears (besides pandas) in Asia/India as well as an extinct one in Africa. The only thing was that they all live in cooler parts of the country. Even the pandas at the zoo are only out if the conditions are acceptable and viewing times are brief. Their hours make the characters in the park look overworked.

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
I think they need a couple mega-rides added to AK. More animals are nice but my kids lose interest in animals pretty quick. Plus, we're already members of the Louisville Zoo. We don't pay for a trip to Disney to see more animals. WE WANT RIDES!!
We are going to DW soon for 8 days and only 1 is AK because of the large size, lack of overall interest and doesn't it seem hotter there than anywhere else in Disney World?

I just don't feel like every attraction has to be themed after a movie. Pirates did not make a movie until long after the attraction had been there. Are we loosing creativity.

Yeah, lets go back to the original way Disneyland was with snow white, peter pan, pinnochio... oh wait.
Almost every attraction built has some tie to a disney movie (direct or indirect), tomorrowland is usually the least connected (since that movie got axed).

Re: New Animal Kingdom Area
jacobcary1 has a point, yes the attractions are tied in to various movie or character themes, but you don't have to have such blatant tie ins, like Nemo in the Living Seas...Wizzard419 wrote:Yeah, lets go back to the original way Disneyland was with snow white, peter pan, pinnochio... oh wait.jacobcary1 wrote:I just don't feel like every attraction has to be themed after a movie.
