Re: Dec 2010: Mayhem Invades Disney World!!!
Being sleepy going back is SOOOO worth those extra hours in the park. The first time my husband and I went to WDW by ourselves, he had to go to work the next morning, so we ended up leaving the Magic Kingdom about 3 pm. That was one of the hardest things I've ever done! I couldn't stand the feeling of "we could go on just one more ride..." or "let's just look at the castle a few more minutes..." and seeing the happy people entering was difficult. Now we plan it so that my husband still has a day off after we get back so that we can stay to park closing the day we're leaving and start driving home in the middle of the night. Sure it makes us tired and we end up sleeping a few hours at a rest station along the way and we sleep the next day away, but it's worth it. I have to remind myself how terrible leaving earlier was when I start thinking "We really could stay one more night...".

Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

Even though this trip is almost five months old...I am still sad that we are so very near the end of the combined reporting.
It kinda gets ya right *here*...
Say it isn't so!!!!
Can you make some stuff up Amy? Tell us that you and F1gment extended your stay another week or something??

But on the other hand, then I can continue my DLP and TDL photo trip reports

No tall tales in my trip report in this topic thread, and Len90 never "officially" denied that other trip report...

PHOTOS ARE COMING ~ THEY ARE UPLOADING (FINGERS CROSSED!)
Amy and F1gment ~ Day 13....sigh
Well, I've been delaying the inevitable, but the time has come...the last day of our glorious 13 day vacation to the sunshine state. We woke up to a freeze and wind chill warning this morning
That was pretty much how the entire trip was though, so we were ready with our cold weather gear.
Goodbye room at the All Star Music...

A few last photos of the castle...

and the little-did-we-know soon to be replaced Adventureland bridge...

I'm sure the plants were thankful for their blankies...

One of the attractions I did not get to experience this trip

We got our luggage pick-up arranged and managed to get off to the bus stop for the MK around 10. We didn't have much time today so we chose Mom's favorite ride Haunted Mansion to start the day. This would end up taking up far more time than we anticipated. The CM's directed us to the special assistance entrance and told us someone would be along shortly to help us the rest of the way in. Well....they forgot about us. I finally had to go and hunt someone down. "Oops!" they said. Anyhow, we assembled for one last swinging wake with the happy haunts and then we had time for one more thing.

I would loooooove to be able to go up on the front porch for a photo!!

Amy and F1gment ~ Day 13...the end
After the Haunted Mansion, we opted for the Monsters Laugh Floor since neither of us had seen it yet. It was ok, but not something that I would probably wait for again.
Such a sad walk going out against the flow

I met the Mayor!! I think he is Japanese ~ note the peace sign

The temperature was still rather on the chilly side but F1gment hadn't had her favorite treat yet ~ a Mickey Mouse ice cream bar, so we grabbed one of those on the way out to the bus stop.

Waiting for the bus back to the resort, I think by this point Mom was pretty much over being the photo subject after the past two weeks

One for Len...

One for boilerbabe...

I would have this tree in my house

These luggage carts are soooo cute!

We got back and collected the luggage, had about 10 minutes to pick up a sandwich for lunch. The airline luggage counter people weren't very friendly or nice, but the baggage check people were awesome so I used the last snack credits we had to buy them several bottles of pop at the food court. They happily accepted our parting gifts, and we took our hot dogs on the Magical Express on the way back to the airport. The first half of the trip went smoothly but things went downhill in Detroit. There was a delay in getting assistance for F1gment to our connecting flight, then there was a last minute gate change, lots of rushing and high anxiety levels which culminated in....a several hour delay
We made it home safely though and dug our car out of the snowbank and slid on home, tired but happy after our first trip to WDW in 10 years and having met new friends in person...and paper cut-outs!
And once we got back home, the last two remnants of our snack credits...the pretty...

and the tasty!

Well, that's it everyone...thanks for being patient and slogging your way through all the photos...and for letting me take my time with both my misbehaving computer and my own natural built-in level of procrastination
The End....for this trip

Sorry you have reached the end of this trip; hopefully, there's another trip around the corner, Amy! Thanks for the pics of my "home away-from-home" there in Liberty Square.

And you would look like a giant. The Mansion is constructed in forced perspective. I remember a special they did for HM on tv and the host (I think) started the show off by coming out the front door and having to crouch to get out the door.Amy wrote:I would loooooove to be able to go up on the front porch for a photo!!
Sad to see the report come to an end. But Subsonic is having that huge meet up in December!!!

December 2011 or January 2012? I thought I remember Mousekedude having previously posted that it might be January 2012 (and the same for the double-boilers).

It is always tough to write about the final day in the world. Departing is always a lot tougher than you could think. Great pictures and nice to see you made the best of an emotional day. Those are very interesting luggage carts at the All Stars. I don't recall the YC having themed carts.

Unfortunately the December meet up starts after our AP's expire. We won't be able to make that meet-up this time I'm afraid

I'm would think the more deluxe resorts might have more understated luggage cartsLen90 wrote:It is always tough to write about the final day in the world. I don't think most people think about what the luggage carts look like. I could not tell you what the ones at the Swan looked like when I stayed back there in December 2010.

A bittersweet end to a great trip report, Amy... and as usual, the pics were great....
But wait... is it really over? Boilerbabe has promised to come back on and post her pics from the Dole Whip meet-up soon! I'll keep prodding her (gently), and hopefully this thread will continue to live on... until we start a new one for the next reunion (thinking positive happy thoughts... it may happen...).
