Yeah, that is true. Maybe they weren't sure that Belle would be popular enough to carry her own castle?theBIGyowski wrote:Well...Walt built Sleeping Beauty's Castle before the movie was released...right?

Having watched the making of Beauty and the Beast...it looked like they didn't know what the heck they were doing for a while making that movie.

Are we forgetting that DLP's castle is based upon Sleeping Beauty's castle, which is from the French fairy tale, La Belle au bois dormant? It was chosen in order to favor the French culture within the park.

I thought Sleeping Beauty was originally a German fairy tale and Cinderella was originally French...theBIGyowski wrote:Back when it was Euro-Disney though right?mindflipper wrote:Are we forgetting that DLP's castle is based upon Sleeping Beauty's castle, which is from the French fairy tale, La Belle au bois dormant? Thanks for the clarification on the dates of DLP and Beauty and the Beast. I'll tell Emilie.

The original version was written in 1697 by Charles Perrault as part of Mother Goose in France. It can be easy to confuse it with the tales by the Brothers Grimm.momeja wrote:I thought Sleeping Beauty was originally a German fairy tale and Cinderella was originally French...![]()

So both stories are Perrault tales? I never knew...mindflipper wrote:The original version was written in 1697 by Charles Perrault as part of Mother Goose in France. Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
There was an article today in the Disney Parks Blog. I'm thinking this was done to build a little bit more hype for the project. Looks interesting. Are you able to see over the trees from Dumbo?

Speaking of trees, they've added more on the Little Mermaid side of the wall in front of Tea Cups...

Disney really is being secretive about this then. It was too easy to get shots from the top of Dumbo.MadEye wrote:More like between.Len90 wrote:There was an article today in the Disney Parks Blog. LOL! I wonder how long the line for Dumbo is nowadays? I wonder if kids are getting ticked off they have to wait so long because of all the adults with their cameras?

Re: Fantasyland Expansion...
Lines are the same as usual. Not that many "adults" ride to see over the wall.mindflipper wrote:LOL! I wonder how long the line for Dumbo is nowadays? I wonder if kids are getting ticked off they have to wait so long because of all the adults with their cameras?

For anyone who's been to Magic Kingdom lately: how has the construction affected your visit? Does the construction block off a big portion of MK? Is it making foot traffic terrible? Does it make you spend less time there as opposed to other parks?
I'm mostly just curious since I can't visualize what the construction layout must be right now.
