Could be like POTC - when POTC originally opened, it had two separate canals/tracks for loading, but after you departed the loading area, it became one track. They would alternate between track #1 and #2 when releasing from unloading area.Amy wrote:No ~ that's BIG's photo showing the handicapped loading area...unless it is just showing the second track? Now I am super confused...I thought when I went to DL there were two tracks but online it says that WDW is the only Space Mountain with two tracks ~ ahhhhh!

Re: Lap bars for Splash Mtn.
I'm pretty sure there is just one track. DLR's Space Mountain is very similar to WDW's Test Track. You load and unload in the same place. This means one side is for getting on the rocket...you ride Space Mountain...then you come back in where you loaded...only this time you unload on the other side of the rocket. Then the next group of guests load in.
The first time I rode Space Mountain in DLR I had no clue what that extra rocket was doing set off to the side. It wasn't until I went back later in the day to ride it again that I saw a group being loaded in that needed the extra assistance.
Personally I like the rides that do not load and unload in the same place...like WDW Space Mountain and Rock 'N Roller Coaster. It helps add to the story that the attraction just took you somewhere...and that it wasn't just an amusement park ride.

Just to confirm, there is only one ride track at dlr, a switch track that can send the cars into the back, and 2 sliding sets (one for handicapped and one to put new cars on the coaster).
Speaking of, I'm not sure if they got lax or something when it came to height requirements. But there was someone transfering their kids from a stroller to a rocket in the handicapped loading area.

Me too. I think they make load and unload times quicker since you're not standing there waiting for someone else to get out of your way.theBIGyowski wrote:Personally I like the rides that do not load and unload in the same place...like WDW Space Mountain and Rock 'N Roller Coaster. Re: Lap bars for Splash Mtn.
I always seemed to be rushed to when they load/unload in the same area, makes me jump up and out faster which could lead to me falling lol luckily never have but if someone wasn't careful they could. It's like someone standing over your shoulder... which typically that's exactly the casePolynesian Princess wrote:Me too. Perhaps they had a disabled child that was tall enough for the attraction but not able to enter/exit on their own?Wizzard419 wrote:Just to confirm, there is only one ride track at dlr, a switch track that can send the cars into the back, and 2 sliding sets (one for handicapped and one to put new cars on the coaster).

I'm not sure, it looked like the normal stroller and not the ones for kids with MD or other problems, and these kids were short (well normal height for kids) and able to walk. So I am not sure what was going on there.

Sometimes Disney gives out a sticker at Guest Relations for parents to use their strollers as wheelchairs.Wizzard419 wrote:I'm not sure, it looked like the normal stroller and not the ones for kids with MD or other problems, and these kids were short (well normal height for kids) and able to walk. Re: Lap bars for Splash Mtn.
Rode Splash earlier tonight for the first time with the lap bars and honestly couldn't really tell a difference. Unless it completely pins you into your seat and is very tight, I don't see it being a problem. Oh and no problems for anyone getting in or out of the logs that I could see, for anyone that is wondering.

Just to clarify: do you mean the lap bars prevent people from getting out, or that the lap bars are not effective at all and people can still get in or out of the longs with no problems?MadEye wrote:Rode Splash earlier tonight for the first time with the lap bars and honestly couldn't really tell a difference. Depending on the child's disabilities, sometimes it's easier and more comfortable for them to use a normal stroller when they are small enough to. I'm sure that's what was happening then.Wizzard419 wrote:I'm not sure, it looked like the normal stroller and not the ones for kids with MD or other problems, and these kids were short (well normal height for kids) and able to walk. I'm still not fully convinced of disability since they got out and walked into the cars from the stroller.

Re: Lap bars for Splash Mtn.
Just because someone can walk doesn't mean they aren't disabled. Some people have conditions that make it difficult for them to walk for long stretches. They might seem fine to walk that short distance, but can't really endure a full day of walking especially at a place like Disney in the heat and with more walking than most people are used to. Or there could have been a mental disability.

Re: Lap bars for Splash Mtn.
Yeah, which was why I was talking about how they looked to be too short (not like just barely but by a good 4-5 inches). That and the staff seemed to not be there/helping like they usually do.

I meant at load and unload.
