I downloaded a video of it from http://www.remainseated.com/index2.htm

Not the best quality, but you can get the jist.

Tower of Terror at MGM in Florida is one of the best rides in the park. Over the years they keep tweaking the Florida ride for the best effect and the most recent incarnation has a random number of "cookie tossing" drops  so every ride is different. Did you know that the ride is not actually a freefall, it ACCELERATES your fall so you actually will all but lift up off the seat. (Some swear they DID lift off the seat, but when you see video of the whole ride you never see anyone floating in the air. Still, the accelerated fall is really cool. :D I presume the California version will include the best of what they have learned in Florida.

Well...given that there are, what, 3 rides...? I thought the beginning was excellent, the middle bit looked like the Imagineers probably had a lot more planned (or at the very least, it could have been a lot cooler) and the end was pretty satisfying, thrill-wise.
Some swear they DID lift off the seat, but when you see video of the whole ride you never see anyone floating in the air.
Your butt will definitely come off the chair if the safety bar isn't too low (or your lap isn't too high). If you hold something in your hand, like, say, your hat, it will shoot into the air when you drop. I do not believe that this behavior is encouraged.

Compared to MGM's version I was fairly disappointed by the cost-cutting measure changes regarding the sit down part of the ride.

The entry at MGM feels like you are going up to an old hotel. DCA's just lacks feeling to start the story. Once you get inside the hotel its much the same until you actually get ready to load into the elevator. You line up just as at MGM, in front of the elevator doors with the elevator floor dial above. Though once the doors open you walk into a hallway...... Across the hallway is the actual elevator. That just killed it for me personally. Sure the MGM vehicles are going to have to be maintained more, and maybe space was an issue, but they took the easy way out in my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, the actual ride itself is great, just the preshow is broken.

Expanding on Gizmata's post. I feel the story on the ride isn't presented as well either. I've said it before. At WDW, the whole time, you feel like you're on an elevator until you reach the 5th dimension. I'll always remember being wow'ed when it moved forward. At DCA, the stupid hallway aside, instantly you move backwards. There's no feeling of realizm anymore. sigh.

I actually like the attraction very much. The exit hallway serves its purpose, doesn't bother me too much. For how the attraction is supposed to be themed (a different style than Florida), it's done well (with the space given). I like moving backwards at the beginning -- moving back into another dimension.

So I took my mother in law on this ride. It was hilarious. We laughed so hard. We talked the ride up so much and took her on it. My brother in law is seated next to her.

I've never been on the DCA version, but from pictures I've seen, I like MGM's facade better. There's just something about the DCA version that looks unrealistic to me.

Well, I love it regardless. I have not been to the MGM version yet. I love taking people who have never gone on it before through the DCA version though. It is the highlight of the day.

I have been on the one at MGM ride it like 5 times my first day. I haven't been to DL since I moved here hopefully I can go when I get back to Calif for a visit. It would be great to see the differences in the two.
