It was a pleasure to meet all of you! The meet up was def. a highlight of our vacation! You are all wonderful individuals, thanks for hanging out with b-dude and I. You made me laugh mindflipper when you said b-dude knows alot of useless trivia! And thanks for the compliment Jacca

I've enjoyed all of the pictures so far and lookd forward to reading the rest. Give me time, please be patient, the holidays, work and traveling back and forth to work in this wonderful winter weather have not allowed me to come back here sooner. I will post a report/pictures as soon as I can!!!
I didn't want my comments about Boilerdude knowing alot of useless trivia to sound like an insult; it was meant to be a compliment. In fact, he seemed quite proud of it too. We're all looking forward to seeing your pics and reading your trip reports, boilerbabe! :D
Useless trivia ig great!!! You never know...b-dude could be the next Ken Jennings!!!!

I thought your comment was funny mindflipper, no offense taken!!! He is very proud of it too! I sometimes grow tired of hearing it, that's why he was so excited in WDW a brand new audience!

Now I wish I would have had a chance to talk with him some more :( I didn't know about his fondness for trivia ~ I am easily amused and believe just about anything so he could have baffled me for quite some time

Here is the real on-ride photo from Splash Mountain on December 4th. I'm in the front, mindflipper is right behind me, NaCler is behind mindflipper and M-dude is bringing up the rear ;)

I just read through it all! I have to say, bravo! I've enjoyed all of the videos and pictures! I will say it again, I LOVED meeting all of you! It felt like we were all old friends. You are all a wonderful bunch of people! I hope we can meet up again and include more of our fellow Subers!

I will upload my pictures to Photo Bucket tomorrow and I promise to post something! The weather has been horrible and the commute to/from work was exhausting. Then you throw the holidays in the mix and it just didn't leave anytime for me to catch up on here.

NaCler, I loved your mother's comments on Splash Mountain!!! And your view rocked at the YC!

I'm still suffereing withdrawel from WDW and the Poly. B-dude and I said we still love the Poly, we but really love the cozy feel of the YC. Did you hear that Len?! :D It holds a special place in our hearts.

The weather on this vacation was extremely disappointing. B-dude had to buy me a coat in Norway, how sad is that?! And there were alot of little nuisances on this trip, which I will elablorate on in my report. But, bottom line, we had a blast and I hope we can scheme another trip again soon. :D

Stay tuned...

Y'know, if we could get Boilerdude to post more often, maybe he could create his own thread under "Off Topic" called "Boilerdude's Latest Bit of Trivia" where he could post his little pearls of wisdom to share with the rest of us. :D

Ah, I'm not alone with that feeling. The YC, to me, truly feels like a little home away from home. There are not many hotels that you can walk into and almost feel like you are in the comforts of your own home. I heard it got a bit chilly while you were down there but had no idea it was that cold.

I would look at it this way, you have a great Norwegian coat as a souvenir by way of EPCOT!

The Mousekecouple's contribution to the Mayhem trip report: Day 2, Wednesday 12-1-10

I mentioned in the “Day 1” report that we were disappointed in our room. Well it gets worse. We didn’t sleep well the first night, not only because of noise from the parking lot, but also because our room had a horrible mildew smell. So this morning we were so tired that we couldn’t get up until almost 9:00 a.m. The plan had originally been to get up early and get to AK when they opened, but that went out the window last night when we realized we had to deal with this room issue in the morning. So I gulped down some coffee and staggered down to the lobby to talk to management about our problem. They were expecting me because Mouseoholic had told them last night that I would be there first thing in the morning.

Well, the news wasn’t good. The C.M. I talked to was wonderful and polite, but basically told me there was nothing that could be done. It’s kind-of a long story, but the short version is that we had booked through a travel agency that promised us certain things in writing, and Disney was now saying they couldn’t do it. I argued my case, showing her our booking papers that confirmed what we had booked, etc., and insisting that they honor what we had paid for. She went back to talk to a manager, and then came back out and basically said they couldn’t do it, that our travel agent was lying, etc... Well, then I played my trump card: the mildew. I told her that I resented being stuck in a bad location in a room that wasn’t what we booked, which was bad enough, but on top of that the room itself was uninhabitable for me. I had allergies, and the mildew had aggravated my respiratory system so badly that I could hardly sleep, and now felt sick, etc. etc. She went back to the manager again, and 15 minutes later she came back and handed me new room cards to the perfect room, everything we wanted, in the right part of the resort, with a perfect view. Funny how they can magically accomplish amazing things when they smell a potential health lawsuit. So I thanked the nice C.M. and headed back to prepare for the transfer to our new room (funny how it was also already cleaned and ready to move into). In the process of moving, we lost one of our luggage locks and didn’t notice until the bell man had already left. So I ran back to the lobby to find him, and we retraced our steps, searched his “golf cart”, etc., until finally we found the lock in the old room. With all these hassles it wasn’t until 11:30 or so that we were finally able to head down to catch a bus to AK.

We got in the park and caught a few nice pictures before heading to our lunch ADR at Tusker House:

I thought it was very cool that we got the exact same table that we had on two of our previous trips:

Then the Bad Trip Gremlins struck again: there was some woman sitting at the table directly behind me, whose little girl was crying and screaming non-stop. Everyone in the place was giving the lady dirty looks, but she just didn’t care. I was so mad that I was practically cutting through the plate with my knife. But I had ordered a good stiff drink, and the waitress didn’t even charge me for the extra shot of Vodka… I think she understood… so that helped. Needless to say, the kid finally shut up… right as we were getting ready to leave. Naturally.

Our lunch ADR was the special package that came with tickets to special seating at the 3:45 Finding Nemo show. We had plenty of time to spare before the show, so we went on Dinosaur:

Image

…and then the Harambe Wildlife Safari. The animals were less active this time of day, but we did get some nice pics:

Our Safari guide looked just like Tom Cruise in Top Gun:

Now it was time for Finding Nemo. That’s our favorite show at WDW. We had about a gazillion great pictures, and it was hard to choose which ones to post, so I narrowed it down to 12 of my personal favorites:

After that, we decided to head to It’s Tough to Be a Bug, and on the way we noticed how beautiful the rays of the setting sun looked as they slanted through the trees, so we paused to play in the sunbeams and get a couple of “artsy” shots:

By the time we got out of ITTBAB, it was almost dusk. We love AK at dusk, and especially after dark, so we just wandered around soaking it all in for a couple hours and taking more pictures. Here’s a couple nice dusk shots:

Then it was time to start heading over to AKL for our dinner ADR at Jiko. We got there a little early so we could enjoy the “ambience” at the Victoria Falls lounge before actually heading in to dinner. Mouseoholic had a pear martini that was totally delicious. I was surprised she was willing to try it because one of the ingredients was Scotch! Whoever heard of Scotch in a Martini?! But it was good and she loved it.

Image

I, of course, had some of my beloved MacAllan 12-yr. Scotch… neat, of course:

We really enjoyed hanging upstairs in the lounge while waiting for our table at Jiko to be ready. The décor in that place is really awesome. There was even a C.M. wandering around periodically, playing some kind of African bongo drum. It was pretty cool…

Image

Finally our table was ready, and we had an awesome dinner. Then we snagged a few quick shots of the décor in the restaurant and the lobby:

By now it was getting pretty late, so we grabbed a cab back to our resort. Then the Bad Trip Gremlins struck again: I realized I didn’t have enough cash for cab fare! So I had to offer the driver to hold Mouseoholic hostage while I ran back to the room to get more. He was nice enough to not make her wait there, but I did have to run all the way to the room and back to pay him. My poor aching feet almost couldn’t take it because I was already limping that day. But it worked out alright, and we went to sleep… tomorrow will be a great day: the Boilers will be arriving!

I'm LOVING your report. Glad you got the room you wanted--too bad it took the mildew issue to get it done. You two are a beautiful couple and I so wish I could have been there to hang out with you guys. You "do" the parks exactly as I like to! That pear martini looked really yummy!

Have a wonderful new year!

Yay! Great addition to the trip report Mousekedude! It helps me narrow down my photos too since I have so many good shots of Nemo too ~ that musical just begs to be photographed :D
Looks like you had a nice combination of go-go-go and relaxation on Day 2!

I don't know about all of you, but I want M-Dude's camera for Christmas. We had great seats and I took some great shots of Nemo last trip, but they are nothing compared to yours.

You might be able to get away cheaper with my camera momeja ~ I'll be posting photos soon and we were sitting all the way back in the theater ;) (You are right though, he has some awesome photos with his new toy :D )

Glad to be of help. I'm looking forward to more of your perspective and pictures on the trip too.
And yes, we did a perfect balance this trip, I'd have to say. Plenty of high-octane full-throttle fun, but plenty of "stop and smell the roses" too. :D

Thank you. We're both very creative and have a good sense for taking good pictures, but I have to say that I'm so glad we got the new camera for this trip. Good equipment makes a huge difference.

Stand by for plenty more! :D

Ok, now that I have procrastinated away most of my slower winter-break days, I'll get started on the Amy/F1gment part of the trip report!

Day 1
We headed off to the airport at 3:30 a.m. ~ boy, was that early after having worked until a little after 8 the night before!
We left 20 degree weather and 3-4" of snow ~ bye-bye cold weather, we're going to warm Florida! Or were we?!
I had been excited to try out my new computer on the plane since I had heard Delta was offering free wi-fi in December. Alas, it did not work :( The only thing that made me feel better was the wi-fi was not working in any part of the plane so at least I didn't feel singled out! Also, much to our chagrin we were surrounded on the plane by a group of about 7 or 8 folks who had a stack of free drink tickets. They were quite loud and obnoxious and much too old to be acting like over-excited teenagers  but I digress.
I was quite excited on this trip, not only because it had been 10 years since we last went to WDW, but because I actually spotted the WDW resort from the air  Yay! Image
We arrived to find the weather in the 50's and quite sunny ~ not bad, and we were sure it would get warmer, or would it?!
We had about a 40 minute wait for the Disney Express to the hotel. I was thrown a little when it pulled up as it was plastered with the Disney Cruise line insignia, but after waiting, we were ready to board whatever bus they told us to! This Image was not our bus, but I thought Len might like the picture ;)
The first music on the bus I heard was from Soarin' ~ ahhhh! A transplant from Cali that we were familiar with and also is one of my Mom's favorite attractions! I like Soarin' well enough to sort of forgive Disney for replacing one of my guilty pleasures ~ Food Rocks (which had replaced another of my favorites ~ Kitchen Kabaret!)
We got to the resort, had some difficulties with getting our room...wasn't the preferred option we had paid for, only had one bed, not the shower we needed for my Mom to be able to use safely...blah, blah, blah. From talking with others on this trip, hotel rooms seemed to be the thing that everyone struggled with :( Anyhow, finally found a room that we would be able to spend one night in, and then we would have to move the next day, although we would still have to share a bed....grrrrr!
Our package included the quick service dining plan so we grabbed a quick sandwich at the food court and were introduced to our new "all-you-can-drink" mugs...ahhhh, nothing says refreshing like a nice cold Coca-Cola! I got a rice krispie treat for my dessert, but sadly it wasn't the same rice krispie treat I remembered :( I'm glad someone had mentioned here on the forum that they were now made off property so I was at least somewhat prepared for the disappointment...sigh.
By this point I was itching to get into a park! My Mom was ready for bed! We compromised and she rested a little while I tried to work a little more on the room situation and upgrading our passes. We had 10 day passes with our package but no one seemed to be able to tell me how much more it would cost to buy the extra 3 days we would need to cover our entire stay. We struggled with maybe not going to the parks every day but that just made me very sad :( To think we were on property and wouldn't be able to experience everything  I made calls, I checked with the concierge, I got 42 different responses to the same question of how much more 3 days would cost us. Finally I made an executive decision! Up and at 'em Momma, we were heading to the parks!
We decided on MGM...errr, Hollywood Studios. Headed over there, chatted with the CM at guest services and decided our best option for tickets was upgrading to annual passes. Bonus ~ we will have to return next year at least once to justify the extra expense ;) And we were into the park, finally! Mom was hungry and grabbed dinner at the Sunset Market. I checked out the wait times for Rock n Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. They were both too long for my level of patience so I set off and took some photos. It still amazes me how different things can look just with a change of lighting!
Image
Image
We were able to get into the 8 pm viewing of Fantasmic. We couldn't have asked for better seating, dead center, Mickey section...awesome seats!
Image
I played around with photographing the water screens and found it to be quite satisfying. I would learn later on in the trip, it only works well, however, when you are straight on to the screens :(
Image
We left after Fantasmic ended and followed the crowds out...this was the beautiful Christmas tree HS had to offer outside the main gates Image
All in all, a good first day :D
