I understand mindflipper. I think most car rentals are crooks! We had a bad experience this past April when we went to Key Largo and had to rent a car.

My brother worked for one for a while. They are as bad to their employees as they're to their customers.

Len may want BB to call on his behalf. From what I have seen and read, BB gets what she wants when she is passionate about it. ;)

LOL It seems like BB and I are two of a kind. If I set my mind out to something I will succeed at it no matter how much time it takes! There is no hassle to rebook all your "holds" with the companies. Some of them will either just honor the lower price and adjust the current confirmation number while others will just cancel the old and book a new one. It all comes out the same as I get my lower quote. I make sure to have all the rental car companies that I decide to put a hold with email me a copy of the confirmation and I attach the coupon if needed to that. It really helps to keep everything in line and assure that we will have no hassle at the rental counter.

The companies are extremely annoying to deal with. It takes a long time to try and figure out the best discount and coupon. I ended up putting in a little over two hours yesterday playing with the rental companies. However, I was happy to see that my numbers are either the same as the ones I got last year or cheaper!

BB: Which company gave you the hassle this past April?

Congrats, Len, you got it done - and given the 2 hours it took you, it wasn't an easy thing to accomplish...

We had a horrible time with Budget on our trip to Key Largo in April. That's a story in itself!

Len: just struck me - if you're at Disney through 7/3, do you fly back on 7/3 or 7/4? I hear the airports can be a hell on 7/4. It sucks having to leave WDW, but sucks even worse when you have to fly out on one of the worst airport travel days.

We are traveling on the fourth of July. It is actually the 3rd time we will be traveling on the 4th in the past 4 years. I have had nothing but easy going travels in previous years and find that the airport is not that busy since people are either afraid to travel since they don't want to deal with the crowds or are where they need to be and will be traveling the day before and/or the day after.

OMG!!! It's Boilerdude!!!! :D Welcome back!!!! :D

Len: I gather you don't fly through Altanta's Hartfield, eh? I flew back into the country long ago to New York on 7-4. It was a chaotic hell! Our plane was switched to another gate to handle that flight, then an hour later the plane that was being substituted had problems, then after another hour they brought two planes to replace that plane, almost an hour to re-assign tickets, then one of the two planes had an electrical problem, then we were put on a bus and sent to Newark. Never fly on 4th of July again!!!

In reference to airports on the 4th of July, our son flies out of Charlotte NC to Baltimore Md each year on the fourth and he's never had a problem at either place. I guess we just got lucky with that!!!

I would have to agree with Len. I think holidays tend to be a good travel day. Other than the fact that some employees might have the day off, most people are at their destination by the holiday so the crowds should be a little less. Sometimes that holds true for the highways as well, but not always.

Holy crap on a stick!!! It's boilerdude!!! :D Welcome back!!!

I would think that the day before/day after a holiday would be worse days to travel rather than the actual holiday itself.

Mindflipper - we've been through Atlanta once and that airport is massive!!! I remember we had to take a train just to make our connection! At least whenever we go through O'Hare or LAX, usually the connecting gate is not terribly far away...and within the same terminal.

Actually it was NY not Atlanta I had my problem I discussed; Atlanta is a pain 365 days of the year, so holidays must be worst. I've never had a problem with either LAX or O'Hare in my travels, although if I was going to DLR I use the John Wayne airport instead of LAX.

Len: it's just a few days away now. Are you excited yet?

And yeh, I think Boilerdude posting again rates the proper use of the "Holy crap on a stick!" exclamation.

If ever we fly, this is the route we go...it's an hour to DL from LAX (on a good day)! Plus John Wayne airport is much smaller and easier to navigate.
