So glad it is a hunk of junk somewhere. Hopefully recycled and put to some better use. Beer cans maybe?

WOW - I can't believe there is someone other than me who doesn't like all those grave markers as you enter Epcot. When Eisner put those in I'm sure it was just another way to get $$$. They block the pathways and eliminate some of the beautiful space the Epcot had in its original days.
I don't know of anybody who likes them.
I dunno- kinda gives that lovely haunted mansion feel to the entrance area of EPCOT. Like walking through the giant graveyard at the end of the HM. Maybe they could play "Grim Grinning Ghosts" is some futuristic style to complete the imagery?

Can't they find somewhere else to put those horrible tombstones??? I like Mouseoholic's idea, beer cans!

I really loved the pavers you could have engraved, that was a nice touch. The tombstones were just another money maker and they are so darn ugly!

This is how the entrance plaza was meant to look:

The gravestones were just a Ferengi moneymaking scheme.

Alas, some things that were meant to be weren't meant to be forever. :(

Is this a bad time to admit that my Mom and I actually have our pictures on those ugly things? When we went a few trips ago, they were just starting to sell them and we thought why not! And then on our last trip we actually saw the installation and were not amused. It is a nice photo of us though...

I can't be too opposed the epcot wand. I realized after I posted that my computer wallpaper is a huge shot of spaceship earth, with the wand. :)

There's an idea, they can move all those things and put them somewhere...maybe in River Country since that is collecting dust bunnies...
Alas that can't happen. The wand is scrap metal in the dump somwhere... Would be freaky looking though.
No way any of it ended up at Mouse Surplus? :?:

If you did this poll outside of this forum, the results would be a lot more evened out. The old-schoolers fought for that wand to come down the instant it came up back in 1999. To this day there are still battles about it in Orlando :P

I personally preferred it without the wand, just like Hollywood Studios can do better without the hat.

This could end up bringing back the "Mickey told a Lie" saga which still upsets numerous traditionalists. I personally don't like the money making tombstones in EPCOT. Luckily I don't see them much since we usually enter and exit through the International Gateway. It is another perk of staying in the EPCOT Resort Area.

As for the wand, was the "EPCOT" and "2000" composed of tons of blinking lights?
