Good one Jacca!

I would at least go see Captain EO if I was at DL or WDW. I saw it once but I was very little and don't remember anything about it. Would it be on my must do list? Not a chance. Would the original Journey to Imagination be on my must do list? Heck yeah!

His head is. But it's somewhere in Arizona.

I am honestly a little surprised at all of the hate being seen for the re-release of Captain EO into EPCOT. To address some of the issues hit upon by other posters, here I go:
1) I understand and agree that Future World needs a major facelift and that the "renovations" done to pavillions like JII, Living Seas, U of I, etc. were questionable at best to complete garbage. However, "bastardization" of JII was already completed when the entire pavillion was themed to a movie that was over 20 years old and that most kids under the age of 12 have never heard of.
2) Being a person that value nostalgia above many things, I welcome the movie back into EPCOT, albeit for a limited time. I did go see it in DL and loved it. It brought some very found memories for me and made me remember everything that was awesome about 80's music videos.
3) I think that the Captain EO's return may finally signal the end of the whole HISTK run for the entire Imagination pavillion (Hopefully). If this hunch is true, it couldn't come sooner!

I agree with you ctrain...and am hoping that Captain EO coming back means the end of HISTA. I watched Meet the Robinsons last night on the Disney Channel, and I still stand behind my idea that the Imagination Pavilion needs to be transformed into something themed from that movie. It's so uplifting and something every child needs to know about..."keep moving forward".

Replacing HISTA with Captain Eo proves nothing shows us progress better than taking a large step backwards...

I couldn't agree more!

Captain EO is
not a replacement for HISTA...it's a
temporary engagement that will hopefully see the end of HISTA and the beginning of a whole new Imagination Pavilion (or in the case of DL, the start of a new TL)

And how many other "temporary" things at WDW go on and on forever, long after they were suppose to end...

Beware, "temporary" - like the Wonders of Life is "temporarily" closed...

True...you have a valid point there, however it was already announced that EO would stay in DL til the Fall.
It has been long said that a replacement for HISTA was in the works (and that was long before Michael Jackson's death) so I truly believe that this will be a temporary run.
How temporary is yet to be seen...6 months, a year, 2 years? Who knows? But it will not be there forever!

Either way...EO will be at DL for less than a year (as long as Disney holds true to the Fall).
I'm just hoping that the replacement (at DL anyway) doesn't include a certain cycloptic green character, a by-product of good comedy and a flat surface on the ground upon which we stand...

(would not be a good fit for TL, but I'm sure it would be better than HISTA)

Jacca5660 wrote:If they have to bring something back how about Timekeeper? It seems that Disney is always trying to slip something in on the cheep.
I (IMHO) also feel that if MJ was still alive this would not be happening. It's as if the powers the be at Disney took a look at MJ's current record sales since his death and thought they could also cash in on it also. It's rather crass and very un-imaginative.
Jacca, you hit the nail right on the head with both of these points.
Agreed, bring back the Timekeeper then! I loved that show. Amazing. If we're also backslipping, reopen Wonders of Life (PLEASE!!!) and bring back Horizons. I would much rather see Imagineers bring back those than EO any day.
