Magic Kingdom Candy Dish
I have come a candy dish in my collection. It is from the Magic Kingdom and has a center image of Cinderella Castle surrounded by six smaller images. It is tri colored green blue and black. It's outer edge is clear and its backside it's textured. I have not been able to find one like it online anywhere and I was wondering if someone could tell me if it was from the 70's or is it more modern?

I know there is something about the copyright you can look at. At some point, they changed how they identified the company in copyrights. It wouldn't give you an exact date, but it would tell you if it's pre or post that year. Unfortunately I don't remeber the specifics, but I'll try to locate them for you later if no one else chimes in.
Can you share a picture of it? That might help someone identify it.

Does it look like this? If so, then we can start hunting down a year. A lot of the ebay listings just have "vintage" or "70's"

If that is the candy dish, I would so love to have that in my collection!
But it does look like it is from the 70s. Some websites/sellers are saying it could be in the 60s time frame also. My theory is that it could be from the 60s (if the claim is true) as a way to promote the theme park, but with how many I am seeing online is that it was sold in parks in the 70s.

Looks like it was marketed as a candy dish or ashtray as well.

If that is the dish, the copyright puts it pre 1986.

For what it's worth, I have the four coasters that accompany the dish. No copyright or maker's mark of any kind on these pieces, though. Ebay listing I got them from just called them vintage, like Amy said.

Re: Magic Kingdom Candy Dish
That would have been funny if one of us had pulled your exact photo from ebay huh? Hmm, yeah, doesn't look like anything more to go on from the actual dish itself. Hope you are able to sell it for a good price anyhow.dwellsbct wrote:Sorry I had home issues that needed my attention... Re: Magic Kingdom Candy Dish
The odd thing about the one I have, versus the others on Ebay, is that mine has a textured backside. I didn's see this in any others photos or descriptions.Amy wrote:That would have been funny if one of us had pulled your exact photo from ebay huh? Re: Magic Kingdom Candy Dish
Amy, I wonder why too....that's why I was thinking it could be a reproduction of a 70's piece. But what of the copyright? Would a reproduction have the old or new copyright? I mean I don't think it's a forgery but it just seems different than anything else I've seen online.

Re: Magic Kingdom Candy Dish
I would guess a reproduction would have to have a newer style copyright in order to differentiate the two, but I don't know for sure. If anything, the textured underside definitely adds a little character to the dish.dwellsbct wrote:Amy, I wonder why too....that's why I was thinking it could be a reproduction of a 70's piece.
