FOOD FIGHT!

Post by NaCler » Feb Wed 04, 2015 7:25 pm

I am trying to plan where I am going to eat on my next trip and I was debating between Boma and Sanaa at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and it made me think that this may be a good topic. Here is the premise... There are several places that have multiple locations to eat, i.e. Kona Cafe and Ohana at the Poly or the one I previously mentioned at AKL. So, I would like people that have eaten at both places to weigh in with pros and cons on both places, then give their preference. It can be as simple as cost or theming. Make your case.

So, let's start with Boma vs Sanaa, and if you want, we can even include Jiko as well... So, the battle of AKL has begun. Once a little time has passed and people have enough time to weigh in, we will go to another matchup.

Sounds like fun! I haven't eaten at Boma yet (plan to next trip), so I can't comment on that particular match up. Sanaa wins Sanaa vs. Jiko, although they are both exceptional.
Can't wait to take my twin boys on their first trip to Walt Disney World! Planning on heading there sometime Feb-May 2014!

I've only eaten at Boma, so that's where I vote, but not because it's the only one - because it's AMAZING!

Although I've heard the bread service at Sanaa is great. Maybe go to Sanaa for a drink and the bread, then go to Boma.

 then be rolled out the door like the girl who turned into a blueberry in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The entrées are excellent at Sanaa too, so you're missing out if you do that. Plus I like to make sure I get my money's worth at a buffet, so it seems a bit of a waste to spend more money to fill up on something else. Sanaa one night and Boma another night (and Jiko another night  ) - problem solved!

I have only eaten at Boma...so I guess it gets my vote.

I have stayed at Kidani Village though...so a "pro" to Sanaa is that it is more convenient if you are staying at Kidnani than Boma is. The opposite is true if you are at Jambo House...Boma is more convenient. There is a shuttle that takes you back and forth between the two places, so it's not that big of a deal but it's just one I thought of.

Boma only has breakfast and dinner...Sanaa only has lunch and dinner.

I have to assume that Boma is going to be louder given it is a buffet...and it is going to have a lot more kids...making it louder.

The food offerings are probably similar given that it is African themed and Boma has a wide variety. Sanaa probably has more Indian dishes, but Boma has one or two as well.

Because Boma is a buffet...it's going to be more expensive unless you decide to eat yourself sick. So cost has to lean toward Sanaa.

BOMA.
Boma is so amazing. The variety of interesting and standard things you can get is AWESOME. The staff is nice. You can stuff yourself. The interior is pretty. The food is so good. So good.

My wife and I love to eat at Boma. We eat there for one dinner every time we go to WDW. We never feel rushed and there is just so much to try!! :goofy_bounce:
We ate there for the first time on the night I proposed to her but she didn't know it at the time
I didn't propose to her until that night after watching "Wishes" from the Poly Beach.

Ok, so after 2 years, I guess it's safe to say that Boma won the battle of AKL.

Next up:

Contemporary Resort: The Wave or do you splurge for the California Grill???

I have only done the Wave and it was VERY good, so it gets my vote. What say you?

I've been to neither, but I would love to eat in the California Grill sometime just for the views!
