Re: Disney World Buffets
Yeah 'Ohana is at the top of my favorites list. I ate there after doing the WDW Half a few years ago...so I was able to put away a lot of food!
If you go in there hungry, 'Ohana can be quite a bit of food for the cost compared to other nice restaurants.

Re: Disney World Buffets
Yes...it is on the bottom floor of the main building at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I would highly recommend it for several reasons:
1) It forces you to go check out Animal Kingdom Lodge if you've never been there before. It is a gorgeous resort that is one of Disney's best. The smells, music, and artistry that consume you when you walk into the main lobby building will make you want to go back again and even stay there.
2) It's a large restaurant...so if you need to make a last minute ADR you will more than likely be able to get one there.
3) It's all-you-can-eat...so you know you'll have a chance to "get what you pay for" when you go there. Sure, it's expensive, but at least you can control how much and what you eat.
4) As I said before, they have several African beers and wines you can try. I think the only other place you can get them in WDW is Animal Kingdom park.
5) You get to try foods that you otherwise never would. They won't have anything weird...but it will be something slightly different than the foods you have had before. That makes it easier to get kids to try things because they will be somewhat familiar with the ingredients.
6) It is the best family restaurant for dinner after leaving Animal Kingdom park. Because DAK closes at sunset...just make an ADR for 6-7 PM and leave the park 45 minutes before then. The resort is obviously right next to the park...so getting there takes no time and you get a great dining experience right after leaving the park.

Re: Disney World Buffets
In response to TBY above regarding the African beers, I can't remember which selections there were the last time I was there but I do remember their Safari amber brew, which if i recall is also available at several other resorts and parks under a different name (it's brewed by the anheuser busch co.)... Man I love beer!
As far as buffets go, Boma IS very good....dare I say almost TOO good? I felt WAY way too full after eating there. Just a nit-picky thing. Their food is excellent, just be careful with how much you consume because you will not feel good after. Granted that can go with any place you eat...
I'll also second the Land pavilion option. It's a nice open food-court style eatery. It gets busy, but it's a nice place to relax and grab a bite to eat after running around Future World like a maniac.

Yeah the Safari is one you can get elsewhere. I want to say the Tusker Lager is only available at the restaurants at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Animal Kingdom Park.
BTW...the Safari Amber goes great with the jalapeno cheese stuffed pretzel.
Sorry for taking us slightly off topic.

I was thinking how refreshing that looked compared to the scene out my window! It's almost lunchtime...somewherecy1229 wrote:Now I want a beer. At 10:45 in the morning. yeah...it was about 45 degrees in Orlando when I took that picture at DAK
that's one of the reasons there is no condensation on the beer...no humidity and low temps

Thanks ~ I do try to remember to appreciate the beauty in the weather we have...it's just hard to remember sometimes when the brain gets frozen Let it go, let it go....cousininmiami wrote:Amy that is so pretty! The icicles are so perfect, wow!
Brrrr! That's a chilly day in Florida. Made for a beautiful photo anyhow. I'm going to have to try one of those jalapeno cheese pretzels the next time we go since everyone seems to like them so well!theBIGyowski wrote:yeah...it was about 45 degrees in Orlando when I took that picture at DAK

Hmmm, back to the buffet topic at hand, the only one we've been to recently is Ohana and we liked the company better than the food...We've been to Goofy's Kitchen out in California, but that was years ago, and I think it was part of our package, so I don't remember much about the food. I have a picture with Goofy though and that was fun

Re: Disney World Buffets
From what I can tell...most people tend to go to the Crystal Palace for breakfast. Has anyone here gone at lunch or dinner?
DW and I had an ADR for breakfast there several years back but we cancelled it after deciding not to go to MK that day of the trip. I'm sure whenever we can take DS and DD to WDW, we will make a point to eat a meal at Crystal Palace.

Re: Disney World Buffets
For other beer drinkers, aficionados and otherwise: The Safari Amber from Animal Kingdom is an American Amber Ale/Red Lager brewed by Anheuser-Busch, and can be found in numerous other places under different names. On Disney property, you can find it at the Coronado Springs Resort as "Rix Red Lager." At most Sonny's BBQ restaurants, it's "Sonny's Red Ale." For a while, there was an independent bar inside a bowling alley here in Merritt Island, FL called "The Nameless Bar;" and they sold it as "Nameless Red Ale." It's pretty refreshing!

Awesome info! I'm up near Merrimack, NH enough that I should visit the Budweiser factory more often....and that 603 brewery near my gf's place. mmmmmmm.
