Re: Sorcerer's Hat being removed from HS?
Sounds like they might be ~ there were several times we rode that the live guides actually detracted more from the show than added anything for me so I'm good with a change. I did miss the live CM on Living with the Land when they first made that change, but it is actually nice to have a consistent experience that a recording provides. The article does make it sound like not much will change in the attraction other than the video montages though. As much as I like the beginning Busby Berkley scene, it seems like that one could use some sprucing up as well. Should be interesting to see what they do.BenB wrote:"Osborne will also provide audio for the ride"... sounds to me like they're getting rid of the live guides?mindflipper wrote:The hat will be coming down, as well as the Great Movie Ride will be getting a "refresh". Wow so it seems like we will finally see some sort of changes to TGMR. Interesting...
Now when does the demolition of the hat begin?

I think the TCM sponsorship is perfect. Even if it only gives TGMR a stay of execution, what sponsor is more appropriate than TCM? Excellent.

Has anyone else been seeing the photos of the Sorcerer's Hat slowly being dismantled? I'm curious why they aren't making more of an effort to hide the (de)construction process...anyone know?

I wondered this too, thinking, how long could it take? Taking things apart is typically easier than assembling them, couldn't it be done overnight, or least minimized to a couple days of round-the-clock dismantling? But these are the pro's, they know better than I.Amy wrote:Has anyone else been seeing the photos of the Sorcerer's Hat slowly being dismantled? Re: Sorcerer's Hat being removed from HS?
Okay, but how exactly could Disney demolish/remove the hat where it is not being done in plain sight of the guest? You can't build a 150ft wall around it and the hat has to go in pieces in order to get it out of there. From what I understand the crane is lowered after every night of work.TikiTikiRoom wrote:holy guacamole that is some bad demolishing... And in plain sight of every visitor

I am guessing there are some kinds of construction laws that prevent you from doing deconstruction at night. I'm not even sure if WDI does construction during the nighttime hours. Sure, the do landscaping and decorations and such...but I want to say that construction is done mostly by contractors and not Disney employees...which has an effect on the work hours.

I just wonder if the dismantling is going as planned ~ it seems like it hasn't changed much in appearance over the course of several days now.
