Calling it MGM *GASP*
I remembered I had a funny interaction with a Cast member at the ticket counter when I was last there in November '13. Anyway I came with an old cast member ticket, the plain white one with no markings but only "not for resale" and have no expiration date. So I had to change it.
Anyway I was chatting with her and then she mentioned DHS and I'm like "Nah I'll probably not go to MGM" and I she chastised be that it's DHS lol. I don't think she was serious but I wonder what kind of training they get regarding using the now correct DHS. I just responded "ya it'll never be DHS to me haha only MGM."

I think of it as MGM as well, but generally refer to it now as DHS because so many people don't know what it used to be

I called it MGM for a while...but it's DHS now. The main reason I don't use MGM anymore...and actually don't care for it when people still use that name...is that the park is a Disney park...and not a MGM park. Other than TGMR, I don't know that there are any MGM related attractions. Calling it MGM doesn't make it "more Disney", but rather less IMO.
I'm not going to judge if you still call it MGM...but I never even think about calling it that anymore.

Re: Calling it MGM *GASP*
I agree with you Big, but I consider it like someone changing their name. Out of respect maybe call them by their new name. Granted the reason why they changed would be a factor. But it's also like my brother. I know him as Billy but now he's all grown up everyone calls him Bill. Will I ever call him Bill? NEVER! lol He'll always be Billy to me.
But ya it was called always referred to as MGM and the Chinese Theater was used in their logo for ever imo. Should I change? Probably, but same as my brother, you can't change what I call you when I was young so after growing up it's still going to be the same

I resisted for a while but have embraced DHS.

Considering the massive turnover rate for the parks and the time it's been since the change, odds are slim there is any training issue and the workers (mostly) may not even be aware of the old name.

That's pretty funny the cast member chastised you heh. Actually when I first got on the boards and saw DHS I was like, what the heck are these ppl talking about? aboden I agree with your Bill/Billy dichotomy. MGM flows off the tongue a lot better - DHS sounds like a medical procedure.

Re: Calling it MGM *GASP*
I have to think before I speak to call it Hollywood Studios. MGM is what wants to come out. DHS was my high school, so that abbreviation will always seem odd to me in relating to Disney

I still call it MGM all the time! I have made an effort though and also call it "the Studios". Disney's Hollywood Studios seems kinda forced and maybe generic to me I suppose.

Re: Calling it MGM *GASP*
Fun Fact: Watch this WDW Vacation Planning Video from 1994 calls it "The Disney Studios".
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rm97bkYMo8
Apparently even though the park still had "MGM" on everything...Disney was prohibited from using "MGM" in marketing material.
So I'll stick with calling it "The Studios" like I pretty much always have.

It will never be DHS to me. In Maine those initials refer to department of human services! One of the most messed up agencies on the planet.
It will ALWAYS, ALWAYS be MGM!!!!

It's DHHS, Department of Health and Human Services, so yeah....
I would imagine Department of Homeland Security is incredibly more f_cked up considering they are paid child molesters.

Re: Calling it MGM *GASP*
I thought it was called Disney MGM Studios, meh still I'll always call it MGM lol.
When I'm old I'll be talking to strangers in the park like my grandmother calling it MGM and telling them my grandfather helped build it and Walt would come to the job site every morning lol she loved telling that story when I'd take her.
