I don't think they will, but if they do I'm going to round up a protest group.

I would be one of the first on the band wagon!! Love that attraction. They need to keep those nostalgic rides around :)

The only way CoP survives until 2025 is if it goes through a major, major, major refurb. That means changing the scenes, voices, and music. You can keep the theme song...but it would need to change styles to fit the new and updated version.

Scene 1: 1900 (Turn of the Century)
Scene 2: 1950 (Post WWII era...Americana)
Scene 3: 1990 (Dawn of electronic age...basically today's current scene 4)
Scene 4: 2020 (Very near future...mostly using things in use today without reference to anything specific...keeping it current for at least 10-15 years)

It'll work if it is changed like that...because the "classic" version of CoP that we all know and love is from the 1964 World's Fair...not the version spinning in MK right now. So the nostalgic love we have is not even for what you can go watch today anyway.

"Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious… and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths." -- Walter Elias Disney

Do they actually state the year in the current final scene? I'm partially surprised they didn't edit the audio/décor to hide any hard year references.

At the same time, it wasn't supposed to probably be in operation still, just not enough money to create a viable replacement I guess. :D

yeah...I'm 99% sure the Imagineers who made the current version had no clue it would still be running as they made it...and not updated

heck...the current version had no sponsor either...which is why it was renamed to "Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress"

They could update it if they wanted to...and a fresh look and feel would attract guests who wanted to be entertained while they took a break from walking/standing in the heat and humidity. It would certainly be more popular than Stitch/Monster's Inc/Country Bears/etc.

I think they would rather get rid of it and put something more relevant in. If they wanted a space to cool off and sit, they would just make an air conditioned building with couches that played Disney sponsored content all day.

Sponsors are really weird, it's not impossible for new rides to get them but it seems like they aren't showing up in the expected places. Cars Land for example, RSR is not sponsored but one of the weakest rides (Luigi's tires) is sponsored by Alamo. I'm not even sure how that conversation gets off the ground. It isn't like getting a tiny promotional spot with no utterance of the brand is going to do much.

I have to assume that Alamo was willing to pay a certain amount as a sponsor...and Disney wanted too much for RSR.

As a guest...I'd have to say it's a little more refreshing to not see corporate names plastered all over everything. If Walt would have had the cash, he would have never had corporate logos everywhere in Disneyland. But when you have no money and you need help getting things funded, you do what you need to do.

I actually think he would have preferred it all be outside vendors. Aside from the cost savings (much easier to be a landlord vs having to develop merch and menus) there is also the need for stores to refresh their menus and merch. When Disney does it, there is a long process with tons of testing.

You actually don't need to buy the specific brands anymore since there are conversion tools out there. My irrigation unit for the garden and lawns, for example, is web enabled so not only does it get local weather reports to adjust watering but it also allows me to connect to it anywhere.

Fancy! I'm guessing those aren't widely used around this area yet as it is still a very familiar sight to see sprinkler systems running in a full on rainstorm...

Though those earthquakes from depleted aquifers might be a sign of an issue...
