I've been known to visit DHS for less than half a day thanks to early EMH. Midway Mania (x3), Tower of Terror (x2), Aerosmith (x2) then off to MK or EPCOT...

Motion simulation rides trigger my motion sickness so I skip Star Wars...and the shows are well, less than entertaining (exception granted to Fantasmic!), the food not comparable to the other parks or hotels.

I do enjoy the street actors though. I like the interaction element, but DHS needs a serious overhaul and re-theme...turn the GMR into S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters and now we're talking...

Throw in, if you go to DCA/DLR that you can skip midway mania, star tours and fantasmic, you're really only left with a few rides/shows unique to the park that. Fantasmic is in the group because it isn't as impressive as the DLR version.

I'm considering skipping DHS altogether for my next trip...or maybe just park hop for Fantasmic one night. Will depend on the kid(s) I'm hoping to foster-adopt. Everything pretty much depends on them. I'm re-arranging my life, so why not my vacation as well! If they need an extra day of down time at the resort or are not tall enough for the thrill rides, DHS is the park to skip.

I'll be sad to see Maelstrom go, because I still love it, but I understand that it holds limited charm for the younger generation. And the Frozen mania just seems to grow stronger. Would hate to see them turn the chapel into a gift shop to make room for more queue space though.

It's probably going to be an overlay like they did with Mexico. They probably won't touch the church (at least in terms of monetizing it) though since that would be a cultural issue.

I just got back from WDW and the Maelstrom Frozen overlay is the big talk right now. It is also well known that Soarin' is going to be changing. From what I gathered talking to some people is that the Soarin' changes will be different for both California and Florida. California will receive an updated film (basically a few new/updated scenes, with the ending being updated pretty much confirmed) and will receive 4K projection, something that is long overdue for that attraction. I am sick of seeing dust on the film strip. In Florida the talk is to be Soarin over America with it covering vast landmarks across the USA. So far rumor has Grand Canyon, NYC, and both Disney parks featured. The attraction will also receive new 4K projection and possibly have a different musical score. There will be no changes to the appearance of the attraction.

As for GMR: I heard nothing about that being shut for a Star Wars. I did hear that Indiana Jones and Lights/Motor/Action will leave to make way for the Star Wars stuff.

Avatarland at DAK: lots of cranes in place and soon vertical construction should be seen. Pilings are in/ being put in right now.

Disney Springs: Downtown Disney is just a mess right now.

If it's just a film thing I don't see them taking it down but for a few weeks or month. To install and everything.

I don't think they have even begun filming yet, and November is start of another big season for them, so if they do an install it would probably not be until at least next year.

SO news came out today that Fastpass+ reservations for Malestrom after September 28th are no where to be found. Other rides at Epcot do have availability for the date and dates beyond. This could either be a refurb or the start of the Frozen overlay. Disney has also started selling limited edition Malestrom t-shirts online. Put the two and two together and......

I have never seen it.. yet lol but was Frozen really that big of a hit?! I'll miss Maelstrom. Hopefully they don't close it for Refurb before I can get back stateside this year.

Neat! I wonder if any subbers were in the parks when they were filming?

It would take some time to synchronize the ride and special effects to the movie once filmed.
