tl;dr: Next time you're riding Space Mountain MK*, put on some ear buds and have your device prepped to play the California Screamin' audio. Hit play exactly as you dispatch, and be amazed at how well it works.
Tonight was in the park by myself killing time, and listening to podcasts as I did. I was going to keep listening to them as I rode Space because meh @ the trackside audio. As I got grouped, I decided to instead look for the DL Space music (which, for the record, is wonderful but I prefer a silent Space Mountain and I know I'm mostly alone), but don't have that on my phone. So then I figured I'd listen to Screamin' for fun.
Dude. It works so well. Eerily well. As I'm terrible with music terminology and mediocre with rollercoaster terminology, the following links take you to specific sections in the music, with the description of what segment of the ride you're at.
Banking in to energizer tunnel.
Going through energizer tunnel.
Bank out of tunnel and flash of photo.
Train went by during lift (obviously won't always line up like that). Also, the energetic music on the lift is not a perfect fit, but it does fit kind of well with revealing the space stuff that's all over.
Hitting the top of the lift hill. This is roughly where I started geeking out.
Big drop.
Re-entry. Not even kidding. Right as the music transitions to "triumphant," that afterburning sound goes off.
Approaching Unload.
*Try it at DL, too, and tell me how it works.

Oh man, so wish I'd been able to try this! The soundtrack didn't register with me at all, except for the wind in the final spiral sequence. I had heard they'd redone Space Mountain between my last two trips and was hoping for music from De la terre a la lune, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNVNJu39wu4.

Listening to podcasts in the parks? You mean on the queue lines?
