Funniest Event you ever wittnessed at Disney

Post by rphillips14 » Feb Mon 17, 2014 6:05 am

I actually have two....

Sitting outside "Club Cool" in Epcot waiting for it to open. Sitting to the right of the glass doors-a gentleman on a scooter rides toward the doors. He gets about 3 feet from the doors and starts to slow down and then for some reason ACCELERATES as fast as possible and hits the doors wide open. They didn't give or break but made this really loud sound and he bounced back about a foot and just sat there with a surprised look on his face (He was not hurt). I got tickled and was trying not to laugh which made it worse. Before you know it tears are flowing out of my eyes and I am bent over in laughter as is everybody around me(including the man). Club Cool was apparently not hurt either. The really funny part was the nest day during a rain delay-we were sitting in Tower of Terror when a guy came up and shook my hand and said "You were in Epcot yesterday!!" I said "Yes, I was" and he said "We were outside Club Cool when the dude ran his scooter into the door and you trying not to laugh was the funniest part. So I was laughing at one person and others were laughing at me. Irony.

The other event was on our first trip. We were at Port Orleans Riverside and had our 3 children, my wife and myself in the room. My son's stroller was there also. I was walking across the room and the trundle bed was pulled out. I stepped on it and it flew under the bed, throwing me literally into my son's stroller which was not built to handle a 260 man. Thus, it was bent up and damaged and I was hurt too. So, I went into the bathroom and was going to sit on the side of the bathtub and look at my wounds and misjudged the bathtub height and feel back first into the bathtub. All I could do was sit in the tub with my clothes on and laugh. In 5 minutes a 44 year old man had fell twice, destroying a stroller in the process. My wife and kids couldn't stop laughing. However, I bent the stroller back in place-sort of-and we spent the rest of the vacation with a stroller that only 3 wheels hit the ground at the same time and not the same three wheels at any given time. On top of that, one of the wheels was oblong which gave the stroller an up and down motion when propelled forward.

So those are my funniest events....what are yours?

Oh my, what a set of adventures! I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt in your hotel room. That must have been something to see though  Your description of the stroller afterwards makes me think of the Jolly Trolley in DL's Toontown

OMG! I am seriously laughing out loud!!! What are the odds you would run into the same person the next day from Club Cool! I don't think I would've been able to hold back the laughter either, especially since no one was hurt!!! And I am glad you were not seriously hurt, but that is hilarious! And the fact you recovered the stroller (somewhat) for the trip!

The only funny event that comes to mind at the moment would be when we did the Segway tour back in '09. Myself, husband and dad. You would have to know my dad to know that he is a good person with the biggest heart ever! But, he marches to the beat of his own drummer. On the Segway tour they specifically tell you NOT to try and go backwards at any point in time. If you tell my dad not to do something... They give you some free time in Italy to drive your Segway around, my dad just had to try and go backwards when the guide was not looking (like a bad little kid really). It started going fast and he had to jump off of it! Luckily he played it off well. He did behave the rest of the tour!

I always wondered if anyone ever got their tongue stuck back when Club Cool was Ice Station Cool and the whole entranceway was ice. We always ran our fingers along it but with all the people that go there, someone, sometime, had to stick their tongue on it.

This is kind of gross but funny. My wife and I were in line at the gift shop Panchito's at the Coronado Springs resort waiting to purchase some beach towels. This Young father was bent over tying his young daughter's shoe. The elderly woman in front of him I guess couldn't control herself and passed gas quite loudly. His head was right there. I was both shocked and couldn't control myself with laughter along with the other 6 people in line. The expression of total shock and disgust was so funny. brought tears to my eyes. My wife was not happy with me laughing. I got the ole elbow in the ribs.     :goofy:

As a cast member i have several. But my favorite was a snowbird guest on a very hot day. He was dripping with sweat. Lobster sun burn. Looked miserable. Walked up to the Outpost in Frontier land where i was at register and asked with 100 sincerity, "Is your ice cold?"
I was a little caught off guard by the question, but quickly blurted out "Its so cold its freezing!"

Another guest once asked how many chicken nuggets come in the 6 piece chicken nugget meal.
Sometimes, the crowd, the heat, the kids.. Whatever the cause, completely turns a guests brain off. But if it wasn't for those guests, the CM's would be bored and have nothing to laugh about at the end of a 16 hour shift. :p

 I might have had a hard time not laughing "at" the guest during the shift with those kinds of questions!

EPCOT, July 1995. A Living Seas Cast Member (diver) escorted a family to the First Aid station (behind Odyssey Restaurant, part of same building). The CM is wearing a 7 mil farmer john wetsuit in 100+ degree heat. Stops on the way back at a beverage cart and requests a large cup of ice. Pulls the farmer john forward and pours the cup of ice into the wetsuit. Hands the cup back to the beverage CM and continues walking back to the Living Seas.

I would have liked to have seen that from the guests point of view, or the beverage cart CM's (her jaw bounced off the floor). All I know was that I was seriously overheating in a 7 mil wetsuit in a 100+ degrees and did not want to pass out due to overheating...
Regards,
Aaron

 That would have been something to see! Glad you thought ahead enough to avoid passing out ~ that would have been much worse!
