Looks like those carts full of jewels and diamonds is what mandated the cost increase!

 It will be interesting to see how much the mine carts swing though ~ on the videos people have taken at the parks showing them shooting promo videos of the new attraction with the perfect cookie cutter families all dressed in lovely solid color shirts and a few with Dumbo riding in the back car with his sunglasses on, the carts don't look like they are swinging hardly at all, where this cgi video shows the carts swinging pretty good!

So basically the ride lets you experience what it is like to be ore? :D

If I recall, the swinging isn't all/partially from physics but rather hardware tilting the buckets to make the turns feel more intense. What is going to be interesting is how that holds up through normal use.

Ah, that makes more sense then. I wonder if the software controlling them has to take into account the weight of the riders then? Would by interesting to see a ride schematic of the mine cars :D

Can I be the dumbo in the back of the car/train/cart? PLEASE?

My first thought on seeing the character in the back was "I would not want to have that job" ~ I can't imagine being in that hot costume riding a roller coaster and having to remember to smile (ok, you might not have to do that) and wave

So Disney put out a video today of what the AAs are going to be....

It's not horrible but not totally astounding either since it's the same tech they've used before.

I think those AAs look pretty dang good.

It's cool to see the same basic technology that was used in the Haunted Mansion (Leota and the Singing Busts) in new state-of-the-art AAs like these Dwarfs.

I was pretty impressed with the facial expressions on the new AAs as well. Look pretty neat to me :D

You're going by at some speed, so it won't miss too much, but these aren't leaps forward in terms of tech since they've been in use for over a decade. They are also kind of dead faced, since there are no mechanics to move (internal projection+ hardware would mean shadows of everything) so while they have range of motion for their mouths, eyes, etc... their skin doesn't move, which looks really weird when you realize the beards are static.

Plus side is that less parts to fail, but that also means when they fail the ride has to be shut down lest you have a faceless figure.

the plus side to having projections is that you can reprogram them with much less difficulty than even the modern traditional AA like you see with Ursula in TLM

I bet these things look much better in person than they do on camera and I'll be interested to see what people think once it's opened to the public
