Only if they are planning on making a youtube video for it.
If I recall, the ones that were given out for the WoC showing here were for people who bought a specific package for the Cars Land Preview, and I think AP holders could get a free pair if they attended a specific showing of Fantasmic. In both cases the audience was filmed so they could then be used in ads. If you go to a normal showing, the numbers of glowing ears are sparse.
I think they also tried (they may still do it) preferential seating for anyone who buys the ears.

Re: "Glow with the Show Ears" Coming to WDW
I would think that the ears just enhance the experience for people who are sitting farther away from the fireworks and other guests. It seems like that if you are in the middle of the group that it would be hard to see the full effect. People will have to buy the ears first to get the experience. People I know who have gone to DL have also said that the number of people wearing the ears is sparse as well.
One thing I just realized is that there are no plans to have the ears for Illuminations. I would hate to see anything bad happen to my favorite firework show at Disney.

Oh, they are going to be added to illuminations, they add them to every night show as well as various shops, attractions, and the Mad T Party. It isn't terribly distracting, and they were going to add a suppression command so that the ears wouldn't operate at inappropriate times inside various rides.
The things that kill the sales with the guests are the price as well as literally every person except for the one wearing the ears gets to enjoy them.

They are pretty cool, but I don't know that I would want to shell out the money for them. As Wizz pointed out, you don't really enjoy them on your own head as you can't see them. I imagine I will get a pair for Figment if she would like them.

Translation, Amy uses elderly people in wheelchairs for her own entertainment. Shame!
It is a shame that they don't look very interesting in single or small groups since some of the effects rely on multiple sets shifting to different colors at the same time.

Do anyone remember the pin you could buy a few years ago that would light up at random places? I had one as did a few others in my family. Mine was in the shape of the Sorcerer's hat and about 1/2" thick and maybe 2-3" long. It would blink in some dark rides and also would blink if you touched it or moved around a lot. I don't remember if there were places that made it blink? It was maybe 10 years ago. It also seemed to run out of batteries kinda quickly, and was annoying on rides like the Haunted Mansion or Pirates. It ruined some of the dark effects. Also it was kinda heavy and would not hold well on a t-shirt.
Anyways, I was just wondering if anyone else remembered the pins because the glow hat reminds me of it a little bit. As for the glow hat, I am a dork and I will buy a pair!

those pins were back in 2001. They came out when I worked there and I refused to buy them. lol Didn't need the distraction.

Naughty Wizz It simply means I am a thoughtful daughter who would pony up the big bucks to buy something my Mom would like, but I wouldn't spend the money on it for myself, so thereWizzard419 wrote:Translation, Amy uses elderly people in wheelchairs for her own entertainment. Shame!

Yeah, I would think the ears are more impressive with a sea of them rather than a few here or there. I've noticed in videos that more is definitely better in the case of glow with the show ears!

Yes, I remember those as well. We never bought any though...I'm pretty sure we were there in 2000 or 2001, but I'm guessing we thought they were too expensive. I know we were at DL in 2003 and I don't remember if they had them there at that time.cousininmiami wrote:Thanks!! I knew I remembered them!!yodiwan1 wrote:those pins were back in 2001. Maybe they should vibrate so you get a light scalp massage whenever they light up.Amy wrote:They are pretty cool, but I don't know that I would want to shell out the money for them. No one's gloomy or complaining while the flatware's entertaining.
